Sometimes we see strange combinations of genres in the gaming industry. Some can adequately justify their existence, and we can perhaps only pause to wonder why no one else thought of such a connection a long time ago. Others, however, use genre cocktails more to draw attention to themselves and force players to overlook their otherwise unimaginative game design. Only time will tell which of these two categories the new Wave Crash belongs to. Not only does the original game combine two traditionally incompatible genres, it also has ambitions to become a multiplayer staple.

Wave Crash combines the fighting genre with logical puzzles. In practice, it looks like a fighter is standing on each side of the screen, running on different colored fields. Your task is then to move such squares into larger formations of the same color. You can then send them like a wave to the other side against your opponent. He can defend himself simply by quickly moving out of the way, or by using his own solid color wave. However, if he misses any of this and is hit by a wave, he loses one row of his play space. Whoever loses their entire half first loses the game.

Wave Crash primarily focuses on its multiplayer mode, where you can challenge other players either solo or in two-on-two battles. However, you can of course learn all the tricks in a separate single-player mode, which itself offers a large portion of content. In it, you can figure out special attacks and find your favorite from the ten available characters. And if you really like the game, the developers have also prepared an endless game mode.
