At the end of September, we informed you that due to problems with backups in iCloud one of the important features of iOS 9 has been delayed and was not available in the first version of this system. We are talking about the App Slicing function, thanks to which developers can distinguish the components intended for a specific device in the code of the developed application in a very simple way.
As a result, when the user downloads an application from the App Store, he always downloads only the data he really needs with his device. This will be especially appreciated by owners of iPhones with a lower memory capacity, because data for larger or, conversely, smaller devices will not be downloaded to the 16GB iPhone 6S.
As of yesterday, the feature is finally available with the latest iOS 9.0.2 and the updated Xcode 7.0.1 developer software. Developers can already incorporate the new feature into their applications, and anyone with iOS 9.0.2 installed will be able to use this slimming feature.
In the following weeks, when updating applications in iPhones and iPads, we should notice that the updates are slightly smaller. However, all this is provided that the developers use the new functions.
That's a good move :-)
I don't quite understand why they don't start producing the default version with 32 GB of space, when the price difference is 16 crowns for 64 vs. 3000 GB. That is, whoever buys 16 GB does not have much right in his head.
I know such cases, and then they cry to me that nothing fits in their device...
I think it was a trick to get people to buy the 64GB versions. I cursed at it for a long time, because I was used to the 32GB version.
Another reason was their iCloud subscription, as people with 32GB were fine with the 5G cloud. Although it is true that they have quite popular cloud prices.
