When Steve Jobs introduced the new iCloud service package last Monday, the information that it replaces MobileMe and that it will be completely free must have pleased all Apple device owners, especially those who recently subscribed to MobileMe.
However, you don't have to beat your head against the wall right away. Money put into the service, which will be discontinued in June 2012, will not come. Information for existing MobileMe users appeared on the company's website right after the keynote, informing them of how they should behave in the situation. The advice there is a bit confusing, but luckily we have MacRumors to help:
If you want, you can cancel MobileMe now and get a refund for the amount of time you've been using the service.
If you want to use MobileMe until iCloud is available, just wait until the fall and cancel your account then, you can still get some of your money back.
All users with MobileMe accounts active on June 6, 2011, have their free account extended until June 30 of the following year. It means you can use MobileMe services all year long just like you used to. However, you cannot create new accounts, subscriptions, or upgrade your existing account to Family pack.
If you're one of the lucky ones who extended MobileMe in the last few days before iCloud was introduced. If it was a maximum of 45 days, you will get back all the money paid for the service.
When switching from MobileMe to iCloud, all existing data (calendar, contacts, email...) will be transferred. The problem arises if you have a different Apple ID on iOS than on MobileMe (which you do, otherwise it doesn't work). We may not be interested in the music, but what about all the purchased apps? We can register in iTunes with any email address we want, except the one from MobileMe. A couple of threads have popped up on the Apple forums trying to solve this problem, apparently without success so far. So far, it looks like we won't know the solution until iCloud launches in the fall.

I don't know, but it seems that the money can only be recovered for the boxed version of Mobileme, which was probably not even sold in our country...
I bought MobileMe about 2 months ago, I would like to request a refund, but I don't know how. I paid for it with credit.
Does anyone know how to do this?
I'm curious, I extended my loan in April :( so I was automatically extended :) but somehow I'm not worried about my money ;)
the boxed version was sold here - I already bought a second one... About a month ago... :-)
Otherwise, in iOS4, I'm logged in normally in the App Store under the MobileMe address @me.com and everything works... ???
Well, I cleverly set up a mobileme trial account a few days before WWDC so that I wouldn't lose the fun (mobileme) :D Well, even before WWDC I found out that the mobileme account cannot be registered as an email in the existing Apple ID account (through which I until now he bought apps). But I thought, oh well. But when they came up with iCloud, I started thinking. I can easily create a new account on iCloud - I just tried mobileme, but what about those who really use it and have important data there? I'm afraid the iCloud launch won't go so smoothly... :/
Million dollar question:
I tried mobileme (60 day trial). He didn't pay the extension - but the email is still blocked. Will it be possible to get to the email when the service switches to iCloud and becomes free?
Hello. So it seems to me that it is a bit of an all-in-one payment and a bit confused :)
How am I to understand that, as quoted from the article "The problem occurs if you have a different Apple ID on iOS than on MobileMe (which you do, otherwise it doesn't work)." Does the author mean an appstore account? Since I have a mobilme account in iOS, i.e. that I can't sync. emails, contacts and calendar with outlook that I have on my desktop. So I don't see why MobileMe wouldn't work on iOS? Or am I understanding it wrong? It should probably have been rather that the problem occurs if we have a different ID in the appstore (iTunes store) than the one from mobileme? Understand, so 2 accounts, 2 Apple IDs. For another, again a quote from the article "We can register for iTunes with any email address we want, except the one from MobileMe." ? It is not true. The Apple ID from MobileMe (that is, an email ending in me.com) can be used to register in the iTunes store. It is not possible to replace, for example, the created apple ID "seznam.cz" with me.com only in an already existing iTunes account. The mobileme service will gradually be turned off, but the login data, i.e. the email ending in me.com, can be used to log in to iCloud. The only problem will probably be that a lot of people will need to somehow merge two accounts, or to merge the account that she used until now in the iTunes store to purchase applications, into the Cloud account as well. It would be enough if the applications could be converted. Tommy
The word "except" here does not mean "except". Think of it as "included", i.e. apart from the mobile.me login email, you can use any other email. Does it sound better now? The road is sometimes a little rough. :-)
Well, I just think that except here means... except, that is, except :) why should I understand except as including, when the author could have just written... including :D and anyway he corrected it a little a few posts below...;) so except=except :D
Yeah, I guess he really meant it wrong. But even so, "kromé" can be interpreted in both ways here. Well, it depends on how you construct the sentence. If I write it like this: "In addition to the e-mail from MobileMe, you can also log in with any other e-mail". In fact, he constructed the sentence in a different way, and it can now make sense in both ways. Come on, take it cert.
I have no idea what it means that I can't have the same Apple ID as the email address in MobileMe. For example, I have it like that and there is no problem, I have all the data under one email address.
tomik: I guess I got it wrong in the end and it should have been that you can't use the Apple ID from the iTunes store when registering for MobileMe. (as written by Drnec)
And that first sentence really should have said iTunes instead of iOS.
I don't want to rant, but even what you wrote now is not good. Drnec wrote "..and even before WWDC I found out that the mobileme account cannot be registered as an email in the existing Apple ID account" of course it is not possible. He meant it the other way around. He thought and probably still thinks that the ID obtained from mobileme (me.com) cannot be "exchanged" for an ID (e.g. seznam.cz) already used and registered in the iTunes store. So you either turned it around, or you misunderstood the crap. It's even illogical, why would someone want to use a different email when registering a MobileMe account?? By registering with MobieMe, you get (currently not, of course, you can't register) your own email address, that's actually where registration starts..I identify with the second one. This is probably the only and fundamental problem, a different ID in the iTunes store compared to MobileMe. Hopefully apple will find (or already found) a solution.

Logging into iTunes (and the App Store) is different for most people from MobileMe due to the fact that they first got close to the world of Apple through iTunes and only later created a MobileMe account. Few people did it the other way around, but there are also those who then logged into iTunes with the MobileMe account.
Well, in addition to MobileMe, I still have the good old "@mac.com" Account from the days of iChat under the Tiger... Nice hockey...
I set up a mac.com account a few days ago as well, so apparently it still works if you know how.
advise how? would be nice :)
can you advise Thank you
