In early February, Apple released together with the first beta version of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 also the expected Photos application, which will be the successor to Aperture and iPhoto in the company's portfolio. After less than a month, users registered in the OS X public beta program can now access the new photo manager and editor.
The public beta just released has the same designation as the second build that reached developers in late February. Next to Photos we are in it they also received a whole host of new, racially diverse emoji.
However, the majority of users who will install the beta version of OS X 10.10.3 will probably be primarily interested in the aforementioned Photos application. This will bring simpler photo management than it was in iPhot, and at the same time easy synchronization of photos across all devices, including Macs and iOS devices. On the other hand, it will lose some of the more advanced features that Aperture has had so far.
Those who are registered in the test program of upcoming versions of OS X will find version 10.10.3 available for download in the Mac App Store.
Thanks for the message, changes or fixes with wi-fi, but unfortunately apple doesn't mention it... :/
file if they finally fixed the error in the rendering of the pdf, which causes the entire system to lag significantly in preview.app with more complex pdfs
That's why I use Adobe reader, which has no problem with this. But it makes him angry. When using osx, I start to feel that it is not suitable for real work.
I bought Acrobat as part of CS6, it does not support retina (unlike the rest of the package), it does not support gestures or zooming using the touchpad = working with it is a pain.
An incredible resource for people who do photography on a Mac... if they stopped developing Aperture because of this mess, then come on - this may be a 'more modern' iPhoto, but to me, raised on Aperture (from version 2.0), it's as valid as a comb
Even though I switched to Capture One a year ago... Photos is even better for organizing photos than Finder, and that's saying something. And the 'beauty' in the consistency of the background, which constantly changes color depending on what you do with the application, is really 'industry fi(r)st'...
Now I can imagine how Logic Pro users felt a few years ago
Yosemite is the biggest paquil since the very first decade, which was also "juicy". And not just Photos. The way I see it is that I will stay with 10.9 for a long time and not complicate my work and life unnecessarily. Steve must be rolling in his grave...
you and me baby! :)))
Fortunately, I have been using LR for photo editing for a long time, in any case I have to agree with Jirka... I have been working with OS X since Snow Leopard and I can say that I sometimes remember it with nostalgia... every other new version came to me the same as with iOS - catching up with Android in terms of functionality and in fci diversity regardless of system stability and speed. Sometimes I say to myself that I would like all the new features that have been added since SL and have such a great, super stable and usable system like the original SL... which is exactly why I switched from Win to OS X...
Hello,
Has anyone tried the new Photos yet?
I imported the iPhoto library. Then inside this library I marked all the albums and selected "Move from library..."
Good, now I have all the albums outside of the iPhoto folder in the "My Albums" section.
1) Now how do I sort these albums by date? I don't understand at all how it was sorted, but there is no logic in it :) You can sort it by name, but such a basic function as sorting albums by date is missing??? Photos can be sorted by date in an individual album.
2) How do hidden albums/photos work? I had them set up in iPhoto and now I can see them all again. Can someone please clarify this for me?
Thanks a lot for the tips.
Why are you signing up for a beta testing program when you're asking on the internet like this, what can you do? I'm not a beta tester, never have been, but I suppose beta tests are done to catch flies, like the one you're asking about.
Of course, I understand that, anyway, as I come up with the control, I find that it will not be a limitation of the beta version, but a change in the control of the new application. But you get used to it eventually :)
Don't know if Photos will support libraries located on a network drive / NAS? :-) I think it was a problem with Aperture and iPhoto.. :-/ :-D
It's not a problem with Apertrure if you keep the originals (when importing, you order to leave them lying where you don't want to copy them to the library) in the given place and only create a catalog on the local one. It works without a problem.
well, that's a nice piece of shit. this is probably the first software that Apple produced and it is worth the money. If you've ever cataloged your photos, manually added GPS data, starred, organized, you've got a problem. Keep the old iPhoto, Aperture and you have peace of mind. iCloud backup with 5GB is meaningless. And this is supposed to be revolutionary 10.10.3?? come on.
Horror, disaster. The fact that most of the functions are missing is too much. The fact that they made the Events into Albums, and I'm still like an ox looking for the creation of the Events too. But the changing background and the fact that I can't even properly edit the photo, because I can only play with Color, Black and White (that's the main thing, making black and white photos, that's nothing else iPhoto users want) and Light is really killing me. Golden iPhoto…
Well, I'm curious, but I'll be careful. Before installation, I back up iPhoto and library. We know what Apple has been doing in recent years... I have over 100 GB of photos in iPhoto, I only use iPhoto itself for storage and viewing, not editing (I use Lightroom). I am very pleased that if I "drive" the slider in photo mode, iphoto shows the years and months when the photos were taken. I hope that in the new program there will be something similar to this, some kind of timeline. The cloud is completely stolen from me with such a large number of photos... I would retire with my connection...
Hello, I would like to ask if anyone also has the problem of not being able to delete photos. The application crashed at about 3000 photos and since then I can only view and edit but I can't delete a photo or upload a new one. In ios ki it caused a lot of confusion and even there you can't delete photos, they are always uploaded back and doubled again. Thanks for the info:)
