After several developer betas, Apple released a major update for the Mac OS X Lion operating system with the designation 10.7.4. In addition to the mandatory fixes for minor errors, it also contains several improvements that many users will surely appreciate.
First of all, it is a modification of the function of reopening open windows after restarting the computer. While this new feature from Lion may come in handy in some situations, many users have surely cursed it more than once. Apple set the system so that every time the computer was turned off, the "Reopen windows at next login" option was automatically turned on. In version 10.7.4, Lion will respect the user's last choice. Furthermore, the update brings support for RAW files of some new cameras, among the more important ones, let's name the new full-frame SLR cameras Nikon D4, D800 and Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
Here is the translation of the whole thing list of changes from the Apple website:
Update OS X Lion 10.7.4. contains patches that:
- Addresses an issue that caused the "Reopen windows at next login" option to be permanently enabled.
- Improves compatibility with some third-party UK USB keyboards.
- Addresses issues that can occur when using the "Apply to items in folder..." feature in the Info window for your home folder.
- They improve Internet connection sharing using the PPPoE protocol.
- Improve the use of the PAC file for automatic proxy configuration.
- They improve printing to the SMB server queue.
- They optimize performance when connecting to a WebDAV server.
- They enable automatic login to NIS accounts.
- They add compatibility with several other cameras' RAW files.
- They increase the reliability of logging into Active Directory accounts.
- OS X Lion 10.7.4 update includes Safari 5.1.6, which improves browser stability.
Although the system update directly includes an update for the default Safari browser, it is already available in the higher version 5.1.7. Again, the entire list of changes in the Czech language:
Safari 5.1.7 includes performance, stability, compatibility, and security improvements, including changes that:
- They improve the browser's responsiveness when it has little available system memory.
- They fix an issue that could affect sites that use forms to authenticate users.
- They retire those versions of the Adobe Flash Player plugin that do not contain the latest security patches and allow the current version to be downloaded from the Adobe website.
I haven't installed it yet, but there is another thing that bothers me much more about the restoration of running programs after a restart. And that all programs are restored to a single screen, but I had them spread over several 4-6 screens before shutting down.
I have to redeploy them each time.
If they fix this, that would be great.
Windows that you have not assigned a fixed position to a specific desktop are saved first by default after a restart. Try to play with this setting and I'm sure that maybe even this shortcoming will disappear :)
Could you elaborate a bit on that? I don't know exactly what you mean. Thanks.
In my opinion, it is sufficient to set the application to open in fullscreen by default. But I haven't tried it...
Haalelujah, Haalelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, haleeelujaaa
The main thing is that it's been almost a year since half of the staff have downloaded it, and at the same time a good programmer should have it fixed in 5 minutes - amazing.
PS: I use half and half Gentoo/Mac (PC/Air) and my wife reserves the Mac, and as far as the hardware is concerned, Apple is nothing to criticize, but their lion sometimes makes me feel like I would like to pull out all the hairs on my how should I use it - so for those who want to use it - I'm not talking about something that I don't actively use myself
Great,
I don't know why, but after the update I had to set up my email again, of course I got about 1k emails again, which I had to click on so they wouldn't be unread, grrrr
I want to ask something.. I accidentally downgraded from lion to leopard (I thought it was snow l.) but I lost the dvd with snow leopard. is it possible to buy SL again? I can't find it anywhere, and I don't like warezacks. no one gave me advice on the forum. thank you very much
Well, I don't know about others, but for me those windows keep popping up at startup. Overall, I wouldn't mind if the ones that were open were opened. But it bothers me if an application window opens that has been minimized or she was running in the background.
