This Friday saw the release of the long-awaited Absinthe 2.0, which enables untethered jailbreak of iOS devices running firmware 5.1.1. If you belong to the jailbreak community that uses jailbreak, the following tutorial will certainly come in handy.
Absinthe 2.0 is the work of the Cronic-Dev team, which has already contributed to several jailbreak solutions, such as Greenpois0n. The hacker has the biggest stake in the new jailbreak Pod2g, who enjoys a reputation as the successor to the now legendary George Hotz, known as Geohot. Absinthe 2.0 can be used for all devices with iOS 5.1.1 (Absinthe is intended ONLY for this version of the system) except Apple TV 3rd generation. A revision of the iPad 2 with a 32 nm processor, referred to as iPad 2,4 (released together with the new iPad), will be jailbroken at a later date.

Absinthe 2.0 walkthrough if you don't have a jailbreak
- Back up your iDevice in iTunes. This action can be done, for example, by pressing the right mouse button on the name of the device in the left panel and then pressing it Back up (Back Up).
- When your backup is complete, go to Settings – General – Reset on your iDevice and select “Wipe data and settings”. This process will significantly speed up the following work.
- Launch Absinthe on your computer and make sure your iDevice is connected via USB
- Click on the “Jailbreak” option and wait. Do not disconnect the USB cable during this time.
- Once your iDevice is jailbroken, go back to iTunes and restore your data ("Restore from Back Up"). This will restore all your apps, photos, music, settings and more to your device.

Note: In response to the jailbreak, Apple released a 5.1.1 update revision that fixes a vulnerability in iOS that Absinthe exploits. Absinthe cannot be used after it is installed. If you want to keep your jailbreak, don't perform this update.

why would anyone want something like that on apple?
if I wanted to drill into the system, I would buy an android
ba dum tssss…
I agree with you on that.
Here is a tutorial on how to Jsilbreak iOS, not a discussion about which system you would recommend…
How is it with applications and backup? After installing iOS 5.0 (and the corresponding Jailbreak), my iPad was empty and none of the installed applications (from Cydia or Installer) were there.
question, will it work if my iPhone is blocked on the operator? (tmobile) thanks

You won't be able to unlock it like this from the end of April…
Hello, I want to ask one thing. I have an ipad 2 ios 5.1 and I would like to do this jailbreak, but I haven't updated ios to 5.1.1 yet, if I do it now it won't work? I am responding to the comment under the article. Thank you for the answer
Version 2.0.2 of Absith has been released a long time ago, which also allows the new up 5.1.1 - you are starting to be a little out of place here.
So I tried this Jailbreak on my iP4S. And after about 4 hours I restore the phone to its original state, because it is unusable! I don't know if it's JB itself or 5rd party apps, but my phone froze about 5 times and kept going into Safe Mode. From Cydia, I installed only Dashboard X and FiveDock - XNUMX icons at the bottom of the bar. So I do not recommend !!
Can I jailbreak my iPad 3?
