A little while ago, Apple released the long-awaited operating systems iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, watchOS 8.5 and macOS 12.3 to the public. After extensive testing, these versions are now available via software updates. You can already download and install them in traditional ways. iOS 15.4 news

Face ID

  • On iPhone 12 and later, Face ID can be used with a mask
  • Face ID with a mask also works for Apple Pay and automatic password filling in apps and Safari

Emoticons

  • New emoticons with facial expressions, hand gestures and household items are available on the emoticon keyboard
  • For handshake emoticons, you can choose a different skin tone for each hand

FaceTime

  • SharePlay sessions can be started directly from supported applications

  • On iPhone XS, XR, 11 and later, Siri can provide time and date information offline

Vaccination certificates

  • Support for EU digital covid certificates in the Health app allows you to download and save verifiable versions of covid‑19 vaccination, lab test results and recovery records
  • Proof of vaccination against covid‑19 in the Wallet application now supports the EU digital covid certificate format

This release also includes the following improvements for your iPhone:

  • Web page translation in Safari has been expanded to support Italian and Traditional Chinese
  • Filtering of episodes by season and filtering of played, unplayed, saved and downloaded episodes has been added to the Podcasts app
  • You can manage your own email domains on iCloud in Settings
  • The Shortcuts app now supports adding, removing, and searching for tags in reminders
  • In the preferences of the Emergency SOS feature, call hold is now set for all users. Optionally, the call can still be selected by pressing five times
  • Close-up zoom in Magnifier uses an ultra-wide-angle camera on iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max to help you see very small objects better
  • You can now add your own notes to saved passwords in Settings

This release also brings the following bug fixes for iPhone:

  • The keyboard could insert a period between the entered digits
  • Syncing of photos and videos with your iCloud Photo Library may have failed
  • In the Books app, the Read Screen content accessibility feature could quit unexpectedly
  • The Live Listen feature sometimes remained on when turned off from the Control Center

watchOS 8 CZ

watchOS 8.5 includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes, including:

  • Ability to authorize purchases and subscriptions on Apple TV
  • Proofs of vaccination against the disease COVID‑19 in the Wallet app now support the EU digital covid certificate format
  • An update to irregular rhythm reporting with a focus on better recognition of atrial fibrillation. macOS 12.3 news

macOS 12.3 introduces Shared Control, which lets you control both your Mac and iPad with a single mouse and keyboard. This version also includes new emoticons, dynamic head tracking for the Music app, and other features and bug fixes for your Mac.
