In June, Apple surprised when it showed what the new Mac Pro will look like. A computer with a strange oval design, which, however, hid very powerful insides. Now we already know that after many years the updated Mac Pro will be sold for 74 crowns, it will arrive in stores in December.

The new Mac Pro is not a completely new product, it was officially introduced in June at WWDC 2013. According to Phil Shiller, the Mac Pro is Apple's idea of the future of desktop computers. For comparison, the new version of the most powerful Mac is 8 times smaller than its predecessor.

Its heart is the latest series of Intel Xeon E5 processors in four, six, eight or twelve-core versions depending on the configuration with 30 MB L3 cache. It also has the fastest operating memory available - DDR3 ECC with a frequency of 1866 MHz with a throughput of up to 60 GB/s. Mac Pro can be equipped with up to 64 GB of RAM. Graphics performance is provided by a pair of connected AMD FirePro cards with the option of up to 12Gb GDDR5 VRAM. It can reach a maximum performance of 7 teraflops.

Mac Pro will also offer one of the fastest SSD drives on the market with a read speed of 1,2 GB/s and a write speed of 1 GB/s. Users can configure their computer up to 1 TB capacity and the drive is user accessible. Furthermore, there is the second generation Thunderbolt interface with a transfer speed of 20 GB/s, which is double the previous generation. Mac Pro can drive up to three 4K displays via HDMI 1.4 or Thunderbolt.

As for connectivity, there are 4 USB 3.0 ports and 6 Thunderbolt 2 ports. A great feature of the Mac Pro is the ability to rotate the stand for easier access to the ports, when rotated the back panel shines through to make the ports more visible. The entire computer is wrapped in an oval aluminum chassis that looks a bit like a trash can.

What we know new from today is the price and availability. Mac pro will appear on the market in December this year, Czech prices start at 74 CZK including tax, the six-core version will cost 990 CZK.
