Yesterday, Apple informed all developers about an upcoming change to the terms by which newly released app updates will be judged. Apple will require developers to ensure that all updates available from July this year are fully compatible with the iOS 11 SDK (software development kit) and have native support for the iPhone X (especially in terms of the display and its notch). If updates do not have these elements, they will not go through the approval process.

iOS 11 SKD was introduced by Apple last September and brought several interesting new features that app developers can use. These are mainly tools like Core ML, ARKit, modified API for cameras, SiriKit domains and others. In the case of iPads, these are very popular functions associated with 'drag and drop'. Apple is gradually trying to get developers to use this SDK.

The first step was the announcement that all new applications that appeared in the App Store since April of this year must be compatible with this kit. From July, this condition will also apply to all upcoming updates to existing applications. If an application (or its update) appears in the App Store after this deadline that does not meet the above-mentioned conditions, it will be temporarily removed from the offer.

This is good news for users (especially iPhone X owners). Some developers have not been able to update their applications, even though they have had this SDK available for more than nine months. Now developers are left with nothing, Apple has put a 'knife in their neck' and they have only two months to fix the situation.
