No major design changes are expected from iPad Pro 2022, after all, the currently established look is very purposeful. But it is not excluded that we will see something after all. However, when it comes to the hotly speculated features, there is definitely something to look forward to. So here's everything we know about the 2022 iPad Pro, which we should see this year.

Design

Some leaks and information from analysts are likely, others less so. This belongs to the second group. Rumors are circulating that the iPad Pro, especially the larger one, could get a cut-out for the front TrueDepth camera, so that it can shrink its body while maintaining the display size. After all, Apple does it with iPhones and MacBooks, so why can't it also with iPads. In addition, we know that it is possible, because the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the first tablet to include a cutout in the display.

Display

Last year, Apple introduced the 12,9" iPad Pro, whose display includes mini-LED technology. Considering this, it is quite logical that the upcoming top model will also be equipped with it, but the question is how it will be with the smaller 11". Since this technology is still very expensive and the 12,9" iPad sells more than well, analysts Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo agree that this exclusivity will remain an advantage of the larger of the models. Bad luck.

The M2 chip

The 2021 iPad Pro models received the M1 chip instead of the A-series chip. Apple previously used it in the MacBook Air, Mac mini or 13-inch MacBook Pro. It wouldn't make sense to switch back to mobile chips, iPad Pros can't stay on the same either, because Apple wouldn't be able to present how their performance has increased. It therefore assumes that the new series should receive an M2 chip.

New connectors

Japanese website MacOtakara came with the news that new generations of iPad Pros will get four-pin connectors on their sides, which will either complement the Smart Connector or replace it. The website suggests that this should be to help power USB-C connected peripherals. Given that even the Smart Connector is currently not properly used, the question is whether such an improvement makes any sense at all.

MagSafe

Bloomberg's Marka Gurman came up with information, that the new version of the ‌iPad Pro‌ will support MagSafe wireless charging, similar to the iPhone 12 and 13 (and will be the same for the 15). Apple could replace the entire rear aluminum surface of the iPad with glass, although perhaps due to concerns about weight and susceptibility to breakage, it would be more appropriate to define only a certain area, for example around the company logo. So, of course, magnets would also be present. But in order for iPads to support MagSafe, Apple would have to work on charging speeds, which are currently limited to a slow XNUMX W.

Reverse wireless charging

If MagSafe and support for wireless charging come, Apple could introduce reverse charging in its product for the first time. Since the iPad Pros have a large enough battery, it would certainly not be a problem for them to share some of its juice with another device - like AirPods or iPhones. You would simply place such a device on the marked surface and charging would begin automatically. This is a feature that is becoming more and more common in the field of Android phones.

When and for how much

In autumn and the track. September belongs to iPhones, so it is very likely that if we are to meet the new iPad Pros this year, it will be during the October keynote. After all, the company could also show a redesigned basic iPad of the 10th generation. Since it will be somewhat of an anniversary, it would certainly deserve a special event, even if the basic iPad probably won't be the star of the show. Lower prices can't really be expected, so if Apple doesn't copy the existing ones, the price will go up, hopefully only cosmetically. The 11" iPad Pro starts at 22 CZK, the 990" iPad Pro at 12,9 CZK. Memory variants from 30 GB to 990 TB are available.
