Apple will start its weekly developer conference on Monday, and although it is primarily about software, a lot of information has already been leaked about the hardware that the company will show us here. But the most anticipated computer is certainly the 15" MacBook Air. Here's a summary of everything we know about him so far.

Display

The main thing for the planned MacBook Air will of course be its new 15-inch display. This will be a premiere for the Air series, as it has not yet offered such a large display and previously it was the privilege of MacBook Pros in particular. But it should have the same resolution as the current 14-inch MacBook Pro, i.e. 3024 × 1964. Since the pixel density of the 14-inch MacBook Pro is 254 ppi, it can be expected that it will be coarser here. Something around 240 pixels per inch is expected, but it will depend on what size the display diagonal will actually be in the end. And yes, there will definitely be a cutout for the front camera as well.

Design

Apple set a new design for their MacBooks with the first generation 14" and 16" MacBook Pros, while sticking to this language in the case of their second generation and the M2 MacBook Air. It was with its launch that this series also switched from the iconic wedge-shaped design set in 2015 to a flat-edged design. Not much to think about here. Take the M2 MacBook Air and blow it up - you get a 15" MacBook Air, which may differ by the speakers next to the keyboard. We also expect the new machine to be available in the same four color variants i.e. Dark Ink, Star White, Space Gray and Silver. As for ports, the novelty will be equipped with two USB-C ports and a MagSafe connector for charging. There is no indication that Apple has increased the number of ports compared to the M2 MacBook Air.

Chip

The arrival of the M3 generation of chips is rather not expected, so Apple actually has nowhere to go. The higher versions of the M2 chip are represented in MacBooks Pro, and their deployment in the lower series does not actually make sense. The only possible way is to use the existing M2 chip, which the 13" model already has. But if the Air series is intended for regular work, this chip will definitely handle it. If, of course, the user needs more, he has nowhere else to go.

Availability

With an expected announcement on Monday evening, June 5, the 15-inch MacBook Air will likely be available to order right after the event. Indeed, the latest reports from the supply chain indicate that Apple's partners have already stockpiled quite a lot and are therefore ready to start deliveries relatively soon. If it was extremely early, it would be Friday, June 8th, but the following one, Friday, June 15th, is more feasible.

Price

As for the prices, there are no more concrete rumors yet. If we go by US pricing for the 14-inch MacBook Pro, it starts at $1, while the 999-inch MacBook Pro starts at $16. That's a $2 price difference just for the larger display. If Apple uses the same methodology for the MacBook Air, we'd expect the 499-inch model to start at $500. That's about $15 more than the current M1 model.

In our case, the difference between a 14" and a 16" MacBook Pro is CZK 14. The base M000 MacBook Air costs CZK 2, so this would mean that the 36" MacBook Air could cost from CZK 990. This is assuming that the M15 MacBook Air is not removed from the portfolio and replaced by the M50 MacBook Air. This step, which is certainly favorable for the customer, could mean that the 990" MacBook Air would start at a much more pleasant price of CZK 1.
