Vratislav Holub On the occasion of today's keynote, the Californian giant showed us the brand new 13″ MacBook Pro, which is equipped with an extremely powerful M1 chip from the Apple Silicon family. We have been waiting for the transition from Intel to our own Apple solution since June of this year. At the WWDC 2020 conference, the apple company boasted about the mentioned transition for the first time and promised us extreme performance, low consumption and other benefits. So let's summarize everything we know so far about the new 13" "pro."
This latest addition to the family of professional Apple laptops comes with an extreme change, which is the deployment of the Apple Silicon platform. The Californian giant switched from a classic processor from Intel to a so-called own SoC or System on Chip. It could be said that it is a single chip that houses the processor, integrated graphics card, RAM, Secure Enclave, Neural Engine and the like. In previous generations, these parts were connected through the motherboard. Why? in particular, it boasts an eight-core processor (with four performance and four economy cores), an eight-core integrated graphics card and a sixteen-core Neural Engine, thanks to which, compared to the previous generation, its processor performance is up to 2,8x faster and graphics performance is even up to 5x faster. At the same time, Apple boasted to us that compared to the best-selling competing laptop with the Windows operating system, the new 13″ MacBook Pro is up to 3x faster.

In addition, artificial intelligence has been constantly developing in recent years, work is being done with augmented or virtual reality, and great emphasis is being placed on machine learning. In the case of the new MacBook Pro, machine learning is up to 11x faster thanks to the aforementioned Neural Engine, which, according to Apple, makes it the world's fastest, compact, professional laptop in the world. The novelty has even improved in terms of battery life. The model can offer its user up to 17 hours of internet browsing and up to 20 hours of video playback. This is an incredible leap forward, making Apple's laptop the Mac with the longest battery life ever. Compared to the previous generation, the aforementioned endurance is twice as long.
Other new changes include the 802.11ax WiFi 6 standard, studio-quality microphones and a more sophisticated ISP FaceTime camera. It should be mentioned that it has not undergone major changes in terms of hardware. It still only offers a resolution of 720p, but thanks to the use of the revolutionary M1 chip, it offers a significantly sharper image and a better sense of shadows and light. Mac security is handled by the Secure Enclave chip, which, as we have already mentioned, is directly integrated into the very heart of the laptop and takes care of the Touch ID function. Connectivity is then taken care of by two Thunderbolt ports with a USB 4 interface. The product continues to boast the iconic Retina display, the Magic Keyboard and its weight is 1,4 kilograms.

We can already pre-order the new 13″ MacBook Pro, with its price starting at 38 crowns, like the previous generation. We can then pay extra for larger storage (990 GB, 512 TB and 1 TB variants are available) and for double the operating memory. In the maximum configuration, the price tag can climb to 2 crowns. For the first lucky people who order the laptop today, it should arrive at the end of next week.

Although these changes may seem lifeless to some and do not differ in any way from previous generations, it is necessary to realize that the transition to the Apple Silicon platform is behind years of development. According to Vice President of Hardware and Technology (Johny Srouji), the revolutionary M1 chip is based on more than ten years of experience in the field of iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch chips, which are always several steps ahead of the competition. This is a chip with the world's fastest processor and integrated graphics card that we can find in a personal computer. Despite its extreme performance, it is still extremely economical, which is reflected in the aforementioned battery life.
