Although the latest iPhones have LTE technology, in the country it was only possible to use high-speed internet in mobile networks on Apple phones at T-Mobile. It is now being joined by Vodafone, which has also started supporting LTE on the iPhone 5S and 5C...

Although LTE is still in its infancy in the Czech Republic, the coverage of neither operator is very impressive, but this should continue to improve over time.

The signal that Vodafone started supporting new iPhones in its LTE network was an update to the network configuration in iOS, which in Settings she made the button available Turn on LTE (Settings > Mobile Data > Turn on LTE). Vodafone later confirmed the availability of LTE on the iPhone 5S and 5C (Vodafone said about iPhone 5 support acts, the reason is the support of only selected frequencies) on social networks.

Vodafone calls its 4th generation internet network using LTE technology on frequencies of 800, 900 and 1800 MHz Turbo Internet, whereby different speeds can be achieved at different frequencies:

  • Basic, LTE 900 MHz, speed up to 21,6 Mbit/s (widest coverage)
    • The widest coverage of fast Internet in a combination of LTE 900 MHz (Band 8) technologies with a speed of up to 20 Mbit/s and 3G HSPA+ with a speed of up to 21,6 Mbit/s.
  • Fast, LTE 800 MHz, speed up to 43,2 Mbit/s
    • Coverage using a combination of HSPA+ DC 43.2 Mbit/s (theoretical download speeds up to 43,2 Mbit/s and upload 5,76 Mbit/s) and LTE at a frequency of 800 MHz (theoretical download speeds up to 75 Mbit/s).
  • The fastest, LTE 1800 MHz, speed up to 100 Mbit/s
    • The latest and fastest supported data connection technology in the Vodafone network reaching speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s in the LTE 1800 MHz system (Band 3).

On the map below, you can see that the coverage so far mainly concerns the surroundings of large cities and a larger part of the Central Bohemian Region. Mainly the basic speed is available. By the end of this year, Vodafone promises to cover 93% of the population.

To be able to use Turbo Internet, you need any Vodafone data plan and also a special LTE SIM card, which the company started selling in August 2013. The so-called You can recognize the uSIM card by the letters LTE in the lower right corner.
