Towards the end of today's conference, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, announced the release dates of new versions of the operating systems that were introduced during WWDC this June. In addition to iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, we also received a new version of the operating system for Apple watches, watchOS 7, which came with several new features. Today we already know that Apple Watch users will be able to update their watches tomorrow, that is September 16, 2020.

What's new in watchOS 7

watchOS 7 brings two significant and many smaller improvements. The first of the more prominent ones is the sleep monitoring function, which will not only monitor the habits of the Apple Watch user, but above all try to motivate him to create a regular rhythm and thus pay attention to sleep hygiene. The second significant improvement is the ability to share created watch faces. The smaller changes include, for example, new activities in the Workout application or the hand washing detection function, which is very important nowadays. If the watch detects that the wearer is washing their hands, it will start a 20-second countdown to determine if the wearer has actually been washing their hands for a long enough time. WatchOS 7 will be available for Series 3, 4, 5 and, of course, the Series 6 presented today. Therefore, it will no longer be possible to install this system on the first two generations of Apple Watch.
