Viber is one of the most used communication tools, thanks to its simple user interface, end-to-end encryption and overall simplicity. Like some states and private companies, Viber is also reacting to the current crisis in Ukraine, which is mired in a war conflict after the invasion of the troops of the Russian Federation. The company is therefore implementing several important measures to support the community.

First of all, Viber launched a free calling program called Viber Out. As part of this, users can call any telephone number or landline, specifically in 34 countries around the world. In addition, these calls can also be made in the event of various problems and internet outages throughout the country, when a normal call via Viber might not work otherwise. At the same time, Viber suspended all advertising on the territory of Ukraine and Russia. This can ensure that no one can profit from the current situation within the application itself.

Many Ukrainian citizens are trying to flee the country to neighboring countries because of the war. In such a case, it is absolutely crucial that they have access to relevant information as quickly as possible, which Viber counters by setting up four specific channels. They were launched in 4 countries - Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia - where the influx of refugees is the largest. The channels then share information about registrations, accommodation, first aid and other necessities. At the same time, over 18 thousand members joined them in less than 23 hours from the establishment. Subsequently, the same channels should be added for other European countries.

Humanitarian aid is also extremely important for Ukraine. For this reason, Viber, in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross Societies (IFRC), shared through all available channels a call for donations of funds that will be handed over to the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Last but not least Viber it helps with the current crisis with its elemental properties. As it offers completely secure communication, it does not (or will) share any data with any world government. All communication is, as already mentioned, end-to-end encrypted, which is why even Viber itself cannot access it.
