The introduction of the iPhone 16 series is still a long way off, as we won't see them until September next year. But now we're full of impressions and concepts from the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro, we can already make some wishes about what we'd like to see in Apple's upcoming line of phones. The first rumors also help something. But there are also things we know we won't see.

Custom chip

Last year, Apple switched to a new way of fitting iPhones with its chips. He gave the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus the one from the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max got the A16 Bionic, but the base models got "only" the A15 Bionic chip. The situation repeated itself this year, as the iPhones 15 have last year's A16 Bionic. But things are set to change again next year. The entry-level lineup won't get the A17 Pro, but its variant of the A18 chip, the 16 Pro (or theoretically Ultra) models, will have the A18 Pro. This will mean that a customer buying a new iPhone 16 won't feel like Apple is selling them a device with a year-old chip.

Action button

It's one of the big news of the iPhone 15 Pro. It may seem trivial, but once you try it, you won't want to go back to the volume rocker. At the same time, it doesn't matter what function you assign to the button, although it can be guessed that it won't be putting the device in silent mode when you now have so many options. Although there are rumors that Apple will keep the button only in the Pro series, it would be a real shame and we really believe that the basic iPhone 16 will also see it.

Refresh rate 120 Hz

We probably don't think that Apple will provide the basic series with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, in which case the Always On display will remain banned, but the fixed refresh rate should be moved, because the 60 Hz simply looks bad compared to the competition. Additionally, iPhones generally have the best battery life of all smartphones, even though they have smaller battery capacities. This is due to their ideal optimization, so excuses of the type that the battery would not last are odd.

Faster USB-C

This year, Apple has replaced its Lightning with USB-C for the entire range of iPhone 15 and 15 Pro, when the Pro model has a higher specification. It's really not advisable to hope that he will even reach the lower ranks. It is intended for ordinary customers, and according to Apple, they will not use the speed and options anyway.

Titanium instead of aluminum

Titanium is the new material that has replaced steel, again only in the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. The base line has been retaining aluminum for a long time and there is no reason to change that. It is, after all, still a sufficiently premium material, which also fits well with Apple's ecological stance with regard to its recycling.

256GB of storage as a base

The first swallow in this regard is the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which starts with a 256GB memory variant. If somewhere Apple cuts the 128GB version next year, it will only be the iPhone 15 Pro, not the basic series. With the current 128 GB, it will last for a few more years.
