It did a great job of combining the roguelite genre with card game mechanics in a package that was hard to break away from. The developers themselves put a lot of emphasis on different attack styles. In addition to the basic strikes, they offer a whole range of additional effects. So you can cast attacks on enemies that poison, burn or slow them down. You then have to combine all of these offensive traits with the right amount of defensive cards to keep your heroes alive long enough at all. Across the Obelisk is still in early access, but the developers are already promising an ever-growing arsenal of offensive and defensive cards.
