We write about roguelites in our gaming section relatively often. The popular genre, which does not give you anything for free, but on the other hand forces you to fully use the game systems, has been enjoying its increased popularity for a long time. As one of the reasons for such a rise, we can certainly see the now-iconic Slay the Spire from 2019. It did a great job of combining the roguelite genre with card game mechanics in a package that was hard to break away from. Evolution in this subgenre was brought about by, for example, last year's Monster Train, which also tasked players with the exact location of their own units. The next step may be a combination of card roguelite with the management of a whole party of heroes. This is exactly the direction the newly released Across the Obelisk takes.

In the new feature, which has been released so far in early access, you will assemble the ideal group of heroes. Each of them has its own deck of cards with unique abilities. You will have to use them effectively in classic turn-based battles. The position of individual heroes plays a big role in the game. This will decide, for example, which of your fighters catches an enemy attack. And let's face it, punches can be very poisonous in Across the Obelisk.

The developers themselves put a lot of emphasis on different attack styles. In addition to the basic strikes, they offer a whole range of additional effects. So you can cast attacks on enemies that poison, burn or slow them down. You then have to combine all of these offensive traits with the right amount of defensive cards to keep your heroes alive long enough at all. Across the Obelisk is still in early access, but the developers are already promising an ever-growing arsenal of offensive and defensive cards. You can now help them in testing at a discounted price.
