So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Fakes in the world: the US seized a batch of fake AirPods

The whole world is struggling with counterfeit products that we can see all around us. In addition, we have currently learned of another incident they encountered at the border of the United States of America where they were accepting shipments from the People's Republic of China. According to the documentation for the shipment, it was supposed to be lithium-ion batteries. For this reason, the staff there decided to do a random check, which revealed a completely different content. There were 25 pieces of Apple AirPods in the box, and it was not even certain whether they were original pieces or fakes. For this reason, they created a series of images at customs, which they sent directly to Apple. He subsequently confirmed that these were fakes.

Since these were fakes, the shipment was confiscated and subsequently destroyed. Perhaps you can say to yourself that one ordinary shipment with 25 pieces and a value of around 4 thousand dollars can't hurt anything. But this is a much bigger problem. We could put this event in the category of weaker catches. The main problem is that there are a huge number of fakes with incredible value. In 2019, customs in the United States had to confiscate goods worth around 4,3 million dollars (about 102,5 million crowns), namely daily.

In addition, counterfeit products are an extreme hit to any economy. As soon as fake goods are sold, it is mainly local producers who suffer. Another problem is that fakes do not meet safety standards and are unpredictable - in the case of electronics, they can cause a short circuit, for example, or their batteries can explode. Of course, most imitations come from China and Hong Kong, where more than 90 percent of seized fakes originate.

Apple Watch saved another life

Apple watches enjoy huge popularity, which is mainly due to their advanced functions. We have already been able to learn from the media several times about how the Apple Watch was able to save a life. The watch is able to detect heart rate, offers an ECG sensor and boasts a fall detection function. It was the last-named function that came in most handy during a recent life-saving operation. Jim Salsman, who is a 92-year-old farmer from the state of Nebraska, recently encountered a very unpleasant situation. In May, he decided to climb a 6,5 meter ladder to save a grain bin from pigeons. According to him, the ladder was stable and he wouldn't have thought for a second that he could fall off it.

But the problem came when a strong wind blew and the whole ladder moved. At this moment the farmer fell down. Once on the ground, Mr Salsman tried to get to his car to call for help, but felt he didn't have enough strength and tried to use Siri on his Apple Watch. He did not realize that the automatic fall detection function had long ago called the emergency services and provided them with the exact location using GPS. Local firefighters responded to the call for help and immediately took the farmer to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken hip and other fractures. Mr. Salsman is currently recovering. According to him, he wouldn't have survived without the Apple Watch, because he wouldn't have gotten any help in the area.

Slow motion: How water gets out of the Apple Watch

We will stay with Apple's smart watch. As you all know, apple watches are the perfect partner for a variety of sports, including swimming, of course. Of course, the Apple Watch prides itself on its water resistance, but once you leave the water, you should activate a special function that will help you get water out of the speakers and prevent possible damage to the internal parts.

The YouTube channel The Slow Mo Guys, where they are known for their scientific and technical videos, also looked at this exact feature. In the video below, you can watch slow motion of the water slowly leaving the speaker enclosures. Definitely worth it.
