Unlocking an iPhone via software has not been possible for a long time, basically since iOS 4. Instead, there were solutions like the Gevey card, but it did not work reliably. Now, software unlocking returns to Cydia.
Unlocking the phone is done using the method Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM) and allows you to unlock any iPhone with iOS 5.0 or higher regardless of baseband. Unlocking is possible due to the discovery of a vulnerable spot in the ICCID (SIM card identification) and iTunes, through which the activation is carried out. Thanks to a trick invented by the creators of the unlock, iTunes thinks that it is for the official SIM card of the given operator.
It is important to know that one specific SIM is unlocked, so it is not possible to change SIM cards, another one will not work for you. Of course, you need to have a jailbroken phone to unlock it. You perform this operation at your own risk, Jablíčkář.cz is not responsible for any problems.
Instructions:
- Launch Cydia and add the repo repo.bingner.com. Once added, search for “SAM” and install it.
- After installation, a new SAM application will appear on the main screen with an icon in the shape of a SIM card chip. Click on it.
- Go to menu Utilities and select De-Activate iPhone. Check the bookmark More InformationIn ActivationState should be Unactivated.
- On the menu Method choose By Country and Carrier and find your operator in the list. If using more than one Carrier ID, you will need to choose a SIM ID.
- Go to menu More Information and write down or copy to the mailbox the IMSI v SAM Details, then click on Spoof Real SIM to SAM.
- Go back to the SAM main screen and like Method now choose Manual. Type or paste your IMSI number, which you previously wrote down or copied, into the relevant field.
- Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes. This will now activate your phone. Double-click Phone Number and make sure the ICCID matches your SIM card. If not, you need to start again from the third point.
- Disconnect your phone and close iTunes.
- Deactivate SAM or uninstall it, it will no longer be needed.
- Open them again and connect the phone again. iTunes should say that your phone number cannot be activated, which is correct. Turn iTunes off and on again.
- After a while, the signal indicator should start on the phone. In that case, you have successfully unblocked.
- It is possible that push notifications will stop working after this operation. In that case, launch the SAM application again and activate Clear Push. Then connect iPhone to iTunes.

Does anyone have experience with it? With which iPhone?
It looks like a good solution. However, at the beginning of the instructions, it says to launch Cydia, but this is possible even after jailbreak. If I have to do a tethered JB first because I can't because of the baseband and I don't want to solve it by overwriting the baseband from the iPad, so this solution didn't bring anything for me, although it is written that it works with any version of the baseband. I hope I understood it correctly and I'm not writing rubbish here.
what you wrote is pretty stupid.. you can do a tethered JB with redsnow and you will keep your baseband too .. but it doesn't matter what you have .. you can unlock absolutely anything with this any baseband so feel free to run redsnow .. do JB without installing ipadBB, you can get into the phone via just boot now .. and then follow the instructions .. when you're done, the sim card will be activated and you can easily get a clean system from apple. You don't have to have JB. If you want it, keep it tethered for a while.. it won't take long and it will be untethered.. then you just install something from cydia again like it was with 5.0.1.
So I don't know, but this type of "article" doesn't suit me somehow on your website....
You're wrong like a pig! You also need to deactivate SAM so that iTunes notices it... Tried
Thanks, I missed one point by mistake, fixed.
how to disable SAM? thank you so much!
Patrik: I don't want to chat now, but Jailbreak has nothing to do with baseband... And unlock resolved baseband...
I have an unlocked iPhone 4 with the old iOS 4.0 and firmware 01.59.00, I want to upgrade to the latest iOS and I don't want to lose the unlock, so how should I proceed? Thanks…
Upgrade to iOS 5 where untethered jailbreak is possible (not sure if 5.1 is possible) and then follow the instructions here.
Upgrade to 5.1. Next JB via redsn0w (untethered). After installation, add bingner repo to cydia, install SAM and the phone has JB and also unlock :)
:-) thank you
I do everything according to the instructions, but as soon as I connect the phone to iTunes, it says that I don't have a supported inserted sim card. At the same time, I have iOS 5.0 (jailbreak) and baseband 04.11.08. Can someone tell me what it could be? thanks for the reply
I have the same problem...anyone help?
It just doesn't work for me... I have the MC605DN model, I found that it can be from Austria, Holland and Germany... no matter what operator I try from that country, still nothing...
I left it on the car
juchuuu up until now I've been working on the iPad baseband and jailbreak and this way I don't even need a jailbreak for this baseband anymore :)
I have an iPhone 4 and it doesn't work :-(

Hello, if I unlock in this way, will GPS and all other services work? And if I turn the phone off and on, will I have to unlock it again? (or is it just unlocked for that one SIM once and for all?)
the manual is not complete
