Research by the Gemius company, which conducts various tests in several European countries, showed that the iPhone is the most used device for mobile surfing on Czech websites. In this field, the iPhone reaches a respectable 21%.

What really surprised me is that another Apple product, the iPad, is in second place in this survey. It reached almost 6%. The iPod is in a slightly worse position, ranked 11th with approx. 2%. Overall, Apple products make up almost 30% of the results of this survey, which is a very impressive number, and one that is sure to grow a bit more these days.

For the sake of interest, we can mention that the Jablíčkář.cz server records approximately 25.000 accesses to the website from iPhone and almost 4500 accesses from iPad every month (source: Google Analytics).

You can see the top ten, including how the percentages have changed for different mobile devices over the course of several months, in the table and graph below. As far as mobile device operating systems are concerned, the first place is Symbian, the second place belongs to iOS and behind it is the Android operating system from Google.

The results of this survey led the Mediář.cz server to attempt a qualified estimate. According to him, there are over 200 iPhones of all generations in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, it is assumed that thanks to the start of sales of the iPhone 4 and the huge demand for it, the total number in the Czech Republic will increase by several tens of thousands. In addition, the rule of thumb for iPhone owners is that most of them will remain loyal to this company for a long time after tasting the products of bitten apples. This almost excludes any decrease in the number of iPhones in the Czech Republic.

Exact figures on the number of iPhone owners are held by mobile operators, who do not want to publish this data or share it with anyone. However, the Mediář.cz server managed to obtain information from employees of mobile operators. According to this information, O2 sold around 40-50 thousand iPhones, and T-Mobile is in a very similar situation. Only Vodafone is slightly ahead in iPhone sales, reaching approximately 70 units sold.

Of course, these data do not include devices purchased abroad, where iPhones come out much cheaper in most cases. Now that's the case in Switzerland, where you can get an unlocked iPhone 4 at the best price in Europe.

The truth is that smartphones are constantly growing in popularity, so I'm really curious to see how the next survey turns out. However, we will have to wait for some time for the results.
