With the new 9,7″ iPad, Apple is primarily targeting students, and then also less demanding users who don't require enough features from their tablet to justify buying the more powerful (and significantly more expensive) Pro model. Therefore, it is quite logical that the new product presented on Tuesday is not very different from its predecessor. However, there have been some changes, so let's take a closer look at them.

If we look at the comparison between iPad 2017 and iPad 2018, it comes down to this:

  • The new iPad has completely identical dimensions and weight as the model it replaces. The design is the same, including the layout of the controls. The novelty will thus be compatible with covers and packaging that fit last year's model
  • The display has also not changed, or display panel. It stayed the same size, resolution, subtlety, color presentation etc.
  • Not one of the cameras present has changed. It is always the same on the back 8 MPx sensor sf/2.4, is also the same FaceTime HD front camera
  • The memory configurations also remained the same, i.e 32 to 128 GB
  • Both models also have the same generation touch ID sensor integrated into the Home Button
  • The battery life also remained the same, which is approximately the same for both models 10 hours

New 9,7″ iPad:

  • What has changed, on the other hand, is the processor used – the A9 chip has been replaced by a processor A10 Fusion, which premiered in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
  • The new chipset also includes motion coprocessor M10
  • The combination of the two aforementioned elements ensures smooth running applications using augmented reality
  • Another important innovation is support for Apple Pencil, which until now has only been reserved for iPad Pros
  • They also received slight changes prices, which are slightly lower than last year's model. If you are "shopping for college", the basic configuration of the new iPad costs 8 630 -, the version with data SIM card support then less than that 12 thousand
