Already at the beginning of next week, the long-awaited MacBook Pro will be introduced, which should literally be loaded with all kinds of changes. Of course, at first glance, the new product will be different in appearance. It should be conceptually closer to, for example, the iPad Pro or the 24″ iMac, which makes it clear that Apple is aiming for the so-called sharp edges. The new "Pročko" should be available in two versions, i.e. with a 14" and 16" screen. But how will they differ and what will be the same?

M1X: Small part, huge change

Before we focus on the possible changes, let's shed some light on what currently appears to be the biggest expected change. In this case, we are of course referring to the implementation of the M1X chip from the Apple Silicon family. It is this that should push the performance of the device to an unprecedented level, thanks to which the MacBook Pro will easily compete with laptops with high-end processors and dedicated graphics cards. Current predictions speak of the use of a 10-core CPU (with 8 powerful and 2 economical cores), a 16/32-core GPU and up to 32 GB of operating memory.

Some sources then looked at what Apple could actually come up with in the end, based on these simple data, which in themselves don't even have to say much. Accordingly, they subsequently concluded that the processor will move to the level of the desktop Intel Core i7-11700K, which in itself is relatively unheard of in the laptop segment. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account that MacBook Pros are thin and light despite their performance. As for the GPU, according to YouTube channel Dave2D, its performance in the case of a version with 32 cores could be equal to the capabilities of the Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card. However, it should be noted that the real capabilities will only be proven in practice.

Render of MacBook Pro 16″

Whether the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros will differ in general performance is unclear for now. Most sources say that both versions should be exactly the same, i.e. that Apple will offer a truly professional device even in compact dimensions that will not be intimidated by anything. At the same time, however, there were reports of differences in the case of operating memory. However, this does not match the latest predictions from a well-known leaker who goes by the name Dylandkt. According to his information, both versions should start with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. So, if the information mentioned above that the operating memory can be configured to a maximum of 32 GB were true, it would mean only one thing - it would not be possible to choose "RAM" for the smaller 14″ MacBook Pro. it was supposed to offer "only" 16 GB.

Other changes

Subsequently, there is also talk of the arrival of a mini-LED display, which would undoubtedly advance the display quality by several levels. But again, this is something that is expected from both versions. Anyway, information about a 120Hz refresh rate has just started to emerge, which was first mentioned by a display analyst Ross young. However, he did not specify whether the function will be available only on one or another version. Anyway, a possible difference could be in the case of storage. As we mentioned above, Apple should start at 512 GB for both versions. Consequently, the question is whether, for example, the 16″ MacBook Pro will not be able to be purchased with more storage than the 14″ MacBook Pro.

Cool MacBook Pro concept with M1X chip:

In conclusion, we certainly must not mention minor changes. Although this is nothing revolutionary, it is definitely something that will please the vast majority of apple lovers. We are talking about the much-discussed return of some ports, which include HDMI, an SD card reader and a magnetic MagSafe power connector. Moreover, this information was already available in April confirmed by a data leak, which was taken care of by a hacking group. At the same time, there is also talk of removing the Touch Bar, which will be replaced by classic function keys. What will bring a little more joy is the arrival of a significantly better front camera. This should replace the current FaceTime HD camera and offer 1080p resolution.

The show is knocking on the door

If we ignore the differences in size and weight, it is not at all clear in the current situation whether the devices will differ from each other in any way. Most sources have been talking about the 14″ MacBook Pro for a long time as a smaller copy of the larger model, which suggests that we should not encounter any significant limitations. Nevertheless, these are only speculations and non-percentage leaks, and therefore it is necessary to take them with a grain of salt. After all, this was shown in September with the Apple Watch Series 7. Although most agreed on the arrival of a watch with a redesigned, angular body, the truth was completely different in the finale.

In any case, the great news remains that we will soon learn not only about possible differences, but also about the specific options and news of the redesigned MacBook Pro. The second autumn Apple Event will take place next Monday, October 18. Alongside the new Apple laptops, the expected 3rd generation AirPods could also apply for a say.
