It is not the first time that a four-inch iPhone has been talked about. The last time Apple introduced a phone with such a diagonal was in the fall of 2013, when it was the iPhone 5S. In the next two years, he already bet only on larger models, but according to the latest news, he is going to return to 4 inches.
So far, such a model has been talked about as the iPhone 6C, but Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac citing his traditionally very reliable sources he claims, that Apple wants to bet on a different name: iPhone 5SE. According to Apple employees, this can be interpreted as a "special edition" or "enhanced" version of the iPhone 5S.
The new phone should have a lot in common with the 5S model. According to Gurman, the alleged iPhone 5SE will have a similar design and slightly better internals, thus connecting the latest iPhones with the older ones. Sharp edges are to be replaced by rounded glass like on the iPhone 6/6S, there will be an 8-megapixel rear and a 1,2-megapixel front camera like the iPhone 6.
However, an NFC chip for Apple Pay, a barometer for tracking movement on floors, support for larger panoramas and autofocus during video recording, and the latest Bluetooth 4.2, VoLTE and 802.11ac Wi-Fi technologies should not be missing. All this is supposed to be powered by the A8 chip from the iPhone 6.
If the information turns out to be true, the iPhone 5SE will also have Live Photos and the same four color variants as the latest iPhones. Unlike them, however, it will apparently not get a 3D Touch display. In Apple's menu, this new product should replace the iPhone 5S, which is still offered. According to Gurman, the presentation will take place in March, and the new phone will probably go on sale in April.

Apple has several variants of the upcoming iPhone floating around, according to its sources, and while one has the aforementioned older iPhone 6 internals, it now seems more likely that the iPhone 5SE will be sold with the latest hardware that was introduced in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus last year.
This would mean that the four-inch iPhone would also have A9 and M9 chips. The reason is simple: when the iPhone 7 comes with the new A10 processor in the fall, the iPhone 5SE will be only one generation behind. In two generations it would be undesirable. In addition, the iPhone 5SE equipped in this way could replace the iPhone 6 in the menu.
At the same time, the M9 chip would ensure that even on a smaller iPhone, Siri still works. However, Gurman also came with one more negative message. Not even the beginning of 2016 will bring a change in iPhone capacities - even the iPhone 5SE is supposed to start with an already insufficient 16 GB. Instead of the second 32GB variant, however, at least a 64GB model is to come.

So I don't mind 16GB with this device. It really is a primary phone. No one will upload movies or quantum applications to it. It has a 4 inch display. My friend now has a 4S 16Gb. Plus an iPad Air 2 128GB. I have all my movies and photos on my iPad. It doesn't show anything on the mobile to anyone. He's on the phone. Take is great for sports. You don't pull the plug on flies. So I wouldn't rule out 16GB here. On the contrary, capacities of 64 and especially 128 GB are probably unnecessary for such a small device. They should give 16, 32 and 64. Most people would reach for 32 or 16. A couple of customers would reach for 64.
16GB in iP 6 and 6Plus is pure nonsense. But Apple probably knows what it's doing.
I don't understand exactly this reasoning (I don't take the opinion, I just don't understand) - why, when the device is small (it's basically no longer small, 4″, I consider it to be rather larger), it can't be powerful at the same time. For example, I'm really waiting for a smaller iPhone with 3D touch, the latest processor (not a year-old antique shop playing second fiddle) and at least 64GB of memory. I'm currently surviving (there's no better way to call it) with an iPhone 4 (16GB) and it's terrible - only thanks to the incompatibility of many applications (Pages, Numbers, Keynote, ...) can I fit in that memory, but for example series or even popular lectures from I can't get courser there anyway. I already went several times to buy iP6 or iP6s, but in the end I always gave up at the store - I just can't handle the paddle and even if I somehow got used to the size, I definitely can't handle the crazy camera lens - but that's another story. I'm primarily looking for a small, powerful work tool (if I wanted something for phone calls, I probably won't look for an iPhone, for this category of device I see phone calls as a nice addition, otherwise it's more of a computer from my point of view).
4 inches is woefully small for most things. Apple knows this and be very glad that you will get a 4-inch, quite decently equipped mobile phone. I have a Note 3. I don't want anything smaller. It replaces my laptop. I'll edit an Excel table on it, play a movie on it, just for games. Great for the internet. I don't even have a tablet. My friend has an Air 2. I wouldn't want it. Large for wearing, still small for professional work. The combination of a Note 3 in my pocket and a desktop loaded at home suits me. It was only thanks to the fact that Apple had 3.5 and 4 inch mobile phones that it outsold the iPad. After the introduction of 4.7 and 5.5, the iPad mobile goes to hell. And for people who need an iPad, 4 inches is good. Great size for sports. 4s does not support HandOff or Continuity. As of iOS 10, the 5 and 5C won't support it either. Perhaps 5S. That's why it's a good upgrade to keep those 4 inches to nothing. Personally, I like the combination of 5s and Air 2. HandOff eliminates the disadvantage of a quick display. But everyone is different. You will get a good machine too. A8 chip, latest bluetooth. 1GB of Ram is probably enough. You won't be able to run multiple windows on it anyway. And feel free to buy 128 GB. Even Force Touch probably won't.

Of course, the size and way of use is a subjective matter, so I don't argue (for example, I have no problem with having a small phone and an iPad and a Macbook Pro - it suits me, and I didn't even mind going through keynote presentations on a 3,5" phone and write notes on them on the tram, or present directly from it via VGA). I don't have a problem paying that money for an iPhone (ok, it's a lot of money, but I treat it like I'm buying a computer and I don't plan to change it every year) - but I'd like to get a top product for the money, like it used to be. I bought an iPhone and I knew I had the edge. No compromises on whether or not it supports something. At most, I chose a color or capacity. Now I have to decide if I want a super large phone with image stabilization, or a slightly smaller one without image stabilization, or an even smaller one without 3D touch and without image stabilization, and quite possibly with an old processor and 1GB of memory (so probably obsolete with the next push iOS), etc... It is no longer top, it is already a kind of low end (relative to its product line).
I agree with you. I have an iPhone 5S and I'm really excited about the size. I would sacrifice a few extra millimeters for a more powerful battery, and I would definitely want a new product with the latest internals. I have 32 GB and I wouldn't go lower
I have 16GB and I use it every day, a few songs and applications are enough and the system is full, just a while ago I had to delete a few apps so that I could copy a few songs for jogging and I don't have many of them.
I don't put movies there, I have photos, music there (and currently about 500MB, because there is simply no more, photos about 600MB), I have an iPad for games, so I only have a few games like 2048 etc. on my phone and the phone is always full. It's just woefully little. If only applications didn't save so much data and I could delete them without deleting the application itself.
They should have made 32, 64, 128. Even 5GB more would be a relief. But it would parasitize their sales. The basic cheap 16GB option is enough for a part of people, and those who want a higher one have to pay a lot more, I dare say that the 32GB would be enough for 95% of users.
Of course, 16GB is enough for people who read messages on the toilet in the morning, call and text during the day or use messengers and gateways. However, if you use social networks, various apps (without them it's an ordinary Nokia and not a smartphone), the phone is immediately full.
Arguing with a woman is out of the question (nothing against your lady), they usually only use what a friend/friend gives them, so they can do with whatsapp, fb and built-in apps + a few photos. They don't need more memory if they don't do anything with it at all.
So I have a feeling that Apple still doesn't get it. In my opinion, 4″ is the maximum for a decently usable phone and an ideal compromise between controllability and size. But I don't know what would force someone to switch, let's say from the 5S (my case) to something that is basically an overpriced cut-down version of the current models. Personally, I don't really understand why it is not possible for the 5SE to have the same parameters as the 7 and 7+ (except that it does not fit) and it is necessary at all costs to release it as some inferior "cheap" brother. Nobody wants a cheap iPhone after them! We want a 4″ iPhone – let it cost the same as the larger version, but they will put everything that fits and what they have on offer…
