When Apple launched the first Mac with an Apple Silicon chip, it attracted a lot of attention. The first introduced M1 chip offers significantly higher performance and lower energy consumption than competing Intel processors from older Macs. Apple users liked these computers quite quickly and bought them like on a conveyor belt. But complaints are currently piling up from M1 MacBook Pro and Air users. They have a cracked screen out of the blue, which they can't explain in any way.

Apple is preparing to introduce the new 14″ and 16″ MacBooks:

So far, no one has any idea what is actually behind this problem. Apple did not comment on the situation in any way. Posts from users who have encountered this are piling up on Reddit and Apple Support Communities. One of the complaints is always the same – for example, Apple users open the lid of their MacBook in the morning and immediately see cracks on the screen, which results in a non-functional display. In this case, most of them contact an authorized Apple service. The problem is that even official repair shops are not prepared for such a problem. In addition, some users get their devices repaired for free, while others had to pay.

M1 MacBook screen cracked

Another user shared his story, whose 6-month-old M1 MacBook Air met the same fate. When he closed the laptop lid at night, everything worked normally. It was worse in the morning when the display was non-functional and had 2 minor cracks. After contacting the authorized service center, the technician told him that there was probably an object the size of a grain of rice between the keyboard and the lid, which caused the whole problem, but the apple maker denied this. The MacBook was said to have been lying on the table all night without being touched by anyone in any way.

In any case, the truth remains that cracks can be caused by dirt between the keyboard and the screen, which is simply a risk with every laptop. Nevertheless, it is possible that these MacBooks are possibly more susceptible to damage, even in the case of hardly noticeable stains and dirt. One user then went on to add that the screen bezel could be too weak, which in turn could be causing these issues. However, we will have to wait a little longer for more information.
