In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Images of an unreleased iPhone 5S in Black/Slate have surfaced on the Internet

The year 2013 brought the very popular iPhone 5S to apple lovers. It differed from its predecessor in several features, primarily in the internals. Specifically, it offered Touch ID technology, a 64-bit processor, a True Tone LED flash, a 15% larger photosensor, a better lens and managed to create a slow-motion video in 720p resolution. As for the design, only the colors have changed in this regard. The 5S model was available in the now standard colors of silver, gold and space gray. This was a fairly fundamental change compared to the previous model, which was available in White/Silver and Black/Slate.

The user @DongleBookPro has now shared very interesting images on Twitter, in which he reveals a prototype of the iPhone 5S in the aforementioned Black/Slate design. Two variants are offered in this direction. It is possible that Apple planned to release the phone in this variant as well. But DongleBookPro is of the opposite opinion. According to him, this color combination was used on purpose so that the Cupertino company could disguise the upcoming model from the public, which seems to be a fairly logical choice, since in this way the phones are indistinguishable.

Another point of interest is the production date of this prototype. It was already produced in December 2012, i.e. just three months after the introduction of the iPhone 5, or nine months before the introduction of the iPhone 5S. At the same time, this shows how much ahead Apple is, or at least was, in the production of its phones. User DongleBookPro is known on the internet for posting unreleased Apple products. He has already shared images of the prototype of the first iPod touch, the 2013 Mac Pro, and the first Mac mini with an iPod nano dock.

Macs with the M1 report another problem. The Quick User Switching feature is to blame

Last November, Apple presented us with a brand new generation of Macs, which are equipped with Apple M1 chips instead of Intel processors, thanks to which they offer significantly higher performance, lower energy consumption and are finally not prone to overheating. While this all sounds nice, unfortunately the saying is that nothing is perfect. More and more users are now complaining about a new bug that is associated with the Quick User Switching feature. In this case, the Mac activates the screen saver and prevents the user from canceling it.

M1 Chip Power:

Of course, the error appears in the macOS 11 Big Sur operating system and appears after the mentioned quick user account switch, when the saver starts instead of the login screen. It is also interesting that the cursor does not disappear, which is not normally displayed in such a situation. The problem can be "solved" by closing and opening the Mac, pressing ⌥+⌘+Q, or pressing the power/Touch ID button.

The only way to prevent this problem is to disable Fast User Switching. But this presents a huge problem, especially if you share a Mac with other people. Another possible solution seems to be to turn off the screen saver. Unfortunately, this has no effect. The error appears on all types of Macs, i.e. on the M1 MacBook Air, M1 MacBook Pro 13″ and M1 Mac mini. The same is the case with the operating system. The problem persists on all versions, including the latest macOS 11.1 Big Sur. At the moment, we can only hope for a quick solution to the problem. Have you encountered this problem as well?
