Over the course of yesterday evening, a number of owners of iOS devices with the beta version of the mobile apple operating system began to notice repeated pop-ups of windows warning of the need to update the software. The problem was that there was no way to actually downgrade to any newer iOS beta.

A notification pop-up informed users that a new iOS update was available and that they should update immediately (see screenshot): “A new iOS update is available. Update from iOS 12 beta,” the window text said. Since no update was actually available, 9to5Mac's Gui Rambo came up with the theory that this is most likely a bug in the iOS 12 beta. According to Rambo, the tentu bug causes the system to "think" that the current version is about to expire.

Many users started experiencing the mentioned pop-ups from the moment they installed iOS 12 beta 11, but last night the bug started to appear for a significantly higher number of users and the windows were popping up literally every now and then - users had to get rid of them every time they unlocked their iOS devices. It is not yet certain how Apple plans to fix the bug – it will most likely be in the next iOS 12 beta update. The official version of the new mobile operating system for iOS devices is expected as early as next month. The release should happen after Apple introduces its new hardware.

The eleventh iOS 12 beta has been out in the world for a few days now. It brought news in the form of the ability to delete all notifications at once even for devices that do not have the 3D Touch function, new options for displaying applications and games in the App Store, or perhaps improved cooperation with HomePods.

Do you also have iOS 12 beta installed? Have you encountered more pop-ups?
