Are you a fan of the tactical strategy genre, but have already finished every conceivable part of the X-COM series? Then today's game is perfect for you. In the game Phoenix Point, the creator of the original X-COM, game designer Julian Gollop, unleashed his creativity. He intended his last game as the next logical step in the natural evolution of the genre. But how different is it from the legendary series?

In many ways, it would be difficult to differentiate Phoenix Point from the X-COM series. Although the story tells about a secret military organization that undertakes expeditions into space, it still ends up on the dismembered playing fields, where the marines settle accounts with strange-looking and, at the beginning of the game, much stronger mutants. In this case, they are the mutated inhabitants of the planet who fell victim to a virus hidden in the Earth's polar caps, or another unsightly calling card for the climate crisis.

Instead of the already rigid combat system of the X-COM series, Phoenix Point offers its own version. This is no longer limited to just two actions per turn. It allows you to use up to four action points, which you can spend in any order. Thus, the game opens up completely new possibilities for players in the conduct of tactical battles, where you can perfectly micromanage your units. You can even command individual soldiers which parts of the enemies' bodies they should aim at. According to the reactions of game critics, the game did not handle some of these aspects quite perfectly, but if you are looking for a refreshing tactical strategy, Phoenix Point could quench your thirst.
