Although Apple announced a record first weekend of sales (9 million pieces), the company failed to break the record in the number of individual types of equipment sold. However, the analytics company Localytics shared data according to which the iPhone 5s is sold 3,4 times more than the iPhone 5c among users in the United States.

In less than three days, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c managed to achieve a 1,36% share of all iPhone numbers in the United States market (carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile). From this data, we can read that 1,05% of all active iPhones in the US are iPhone 5s and only 0,31% are iPhone 5c. This also means that early enthusiasts prefer the "high-end" 5s model.

Global data shows a slightly higher dominance – for every iPhone 5c model sold, there are 3,7 units of the higher model, in some countries, such as Japan, the ratio is up to five times higher.

The 5c was available for pre-order on Apple's website and stores are now well stocked. Conversely, the iPhone 5s is rather in short supply and the online order form shows preliminary delivery in October. The gold and silver models are even worse. Even Apple itself did not have enough of them in its Apple Stores on the first day of sales.

The significant difference between the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c is not expected to last long. For first-time owners, the higher-end model is expected to be more attractive, while in the long-term, the cheaper option will appeal to a wider audience.
