It has been almost five months since Apple Pay launched in the Czech Republic with the support of six banks and two services, and only now is another domestic banking institution joining them. As of today, UniCredit Bank also offers its clients the payment service from Apple.
UniCredit withdrew from Apple Pay without any prior notice. She canceled her Facebook page, where she was initially criticized for the lack of service support, some time ago, and she does not mention the news in any way on Twitter either. An official press release is also missing, so the only confirmation is the section informing about setting up and using Apple Pay on the official website, or the experiences of users who have already set up the service.
It is also important to note that UniCredit currently only offers Apple Pay for MasterCard debit cards, with the exception of Maestro cards. It can be expected that credit card and Visa card support will follow soon, the bank should officially confirm this soon.
The service setting itself is identical to that of all other banks. All you have to do is scan the card in the Wallet application and perform the necessary authorization. After all, UniCredit Bank also added its own video instructions to the section on its website on how to activate and use the service.
How to set up Apple Pay on iPhone:
UniCredit thus becomes the seventh domestic banking institution to offer Apple Pay to its customers, joining Komerční banka, Česká spořitelna, J&T Banka, AirBank, mBank and Moneta. In addition to the mentioned, three services also offer the service, namely Twisto, Edenred and Revolut, with the last mentioned fintech startup joining only at the end of May.
Well, they probably won't call her lightning...
that would make me wonder why the Slovakian branch of the bank didn't start support for apple pay in the same way.
does anyone have any idea how things are going with the plans or preparations of Raifka, HomeCredit or FIO? I doubt they would refuse to join and the delay is starting to bother me
