It's shocking how many games exist in the subgenre where you fight by copying the words that appear. However, the vast majority of them are simple games from independent developers. However, Epistory: Typing Chronicles is certainly not a similar game. It uses word copying as a combat system against the backdrop of an atmospheric story about creative block.

In the game, you take on the role of a muse who finds herself in a world without inspiration. You start your adventure on a blank page, but over time you expand the space and enrich it with creative creations. By gathering inspiration, solving mysteries and defeating enemies, you gradually reach a state where the fictional world will be complete again. The hostile world of origami will send its insect soldiers at you in the process. You then have to straighten the folded sheets of paper and describe them with words that will give them a new meaning.

Whatever you're doing in the game, from fighting enemies to opening treasure chests, you'll always rely on your keyboard. The mechanics of copying words permeates every part of the gameplay, so you can easily hide the mouse in a drawer, at least for the duration of playing Epistory. In addition, the game can adapt to your abilities. If you're confident typing words, Epistory will offer you more difficult challenges. However, if you circle the keyboard like a vulture over a carcass, the game takes pity on you and lets go of the reins a little. The dynamic difficulty system then comes in handy to train you to face off against other players that you can challenge in multiplayer mode. If you are interested in the game, don't hesitate too long. You can get it on Steam at the moment with a 75% discount, for only 3,74 euros.
