Practically since 2020, speculation has been spreading among Apple fans about the end of the development of the iPhone mini. We saw this concretely only with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 generations, but according to information from analytical companies and the supply chain, it was not particularly popular twice. On the contrary, he was rather a failure in sales. Unfortunately, it will affect those who really loved their iPhone mini the worst and having a smaller phone is an absolute priority for them. However, as it seems, apple growers will soon lose this option.

I honestly have to admit that I'm a fan of smaller phones myself and when I am reviewed the iPhone 12 mini, i.e. the very first mini from Apple, I was literally thrilled with it. Unfortunately, the rest of the world doesn't share the same opinion, preferring phones with larger screens, while fans of smaller phones are a much smaller group. It is therefore understandable that this is a relatively strong message for them, since practically no alternative is offered. Of course, someone can argue with the iPhone SE. But let's pour some pure wine - the iPhone 13 mini cannot be compared with the iPhone SE at all, at most in terms of size. In theory, however, it is possible that Apple could still accommodate these people and offer them an updated mini from time to time.

Will the mini fall into oblivion or will it return?

For now, it is expected that we will not see the new iPhone mini. Four phones should be introduced again this September, but according to everything, it will be two models with a 6,1" display diagonal - iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro - and the other two pieces with a 6,7" diagonal - iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 For Max. As we can see, the mini from this series looks complete and not even half a word has been heard about it from analysts or leakers.

But now a new speculation from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose predictions tend to be the most accurate of all, brought some hope. According to his sources, Apple should start better distinguishing iPhones with the Pro designation. Specifically, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will offer the Apple A15 Bionic chipset, which, among other things, also beats in the current generation of Apple phones, while only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get the newer Apple A16 Bionic. Theoretically, this is the end of the era when Apple users could rejoice every year in a newer chip and therefore higher performance, which is already available anyway. Although this speculation does not apply to the mini models, apple lovers have begun to discuss the possibilities of how to breathe new life into these powerful crumbs.

Irregular iPhone mini

The truth is that the iPhone mini didn't sell so well, but there is still a group of users for whom such a small device, which at the same time offers perfect performance, a full-fledged camera and a high-quality display, is extremely important. Rather than completely ignoring these Apple fans, Apple could come up with an interesting compromise to bring the iPhone mini back to the market without losing significantly. Indeed, if the chipsets will not be changed every year, why couldn't the same scenario be repeated for these apple phones? From the first mention of the cancellation of their development, pleas for the Cupertino giant to continue it have been piling up on the apple-making forums. And this seems to be one of the possible solutions. In this way, the iPhone mini would practically become the SE Pro model, which would combine current technologies in an older and above all smaller body, including an OLED display and Face ID. So the device would be released irregularly, for example every 2 to 4 years.

In conclusion, we must not forget to point out that this is not even speculation, but rather a request from the fans. Personally, I would really like this style. But in reality it is not as simple as it may seem at first glance. The cost of the device with the aforementioned OLED panel and Face ID would play an important role in this, which could theoretically raise the cost and, along with it, the selling price. Unfortunately, we do not know whether a similar move by Apple would pay off. For now, fans can only hope that this year's generation doesn't seal the definitive end of the iPhone mini.
