In today's roundup of speculation, this time we will talk mostly about patents - one relates to the future Apple Watch with the ability to measure blood sugar levels, the other is related to a sleep monitoring band. In addition, we will also mention the future AR glasses from Apple, which should apparently be equipped with micro OLED displays.

Sleep monitoring device

Many users have become fond of sleep tracking features in recent years. Monitoring can take place via a smartphone, a smart watch, or perhaps with the help of various sensors placed in the bed. According to the latest news, Apple is working on the development of a sensor that could reliably and accurately measure all the necessary parameters, but which would not reduce the user's comfort in any way. This is evidenced by a recently discovered patent describing a sleep monitoring device that can be placed on the bed so that the user is practically unaware of it. The device, described in the patent, in a way resembles the Beddit monitor, which Apple still uses today sells on its website. As in the case of the Beddit monitor, it is a strap, equipped with sensors, which is attached to the bed in the upper part of the user's body. Apple states in its patent that in the case of the described device, this belt should consist of only one single layer, so that the user practically does not feel it in bed.

Displays for AR glasses from Apple

According to recent reports, Apple has partnered with TSMC to develop "ultra-advanced" micro OLED displays. According to the Nikkei server, production should take place in a secret factory in Taiwan, and the mentioned micro OLED displays will eventually find application in the upcoming AR glasses from Apple. In the past, other sources also wrote about the fact that Apple plans to use micro OLED displays for its future smart glasses. The news that Apple probably managed to arrange a supplier of micro OLED displays is definitely great. However, this does not mean that we should wait for the glasses in the foreseeable future - most sources indicate the year 2023 in this regard.

Measuring blood sugar with Apple Watch

In today's summary of speculations, we will talk about other patents. These are related to a possible next generation Apple Watch, which could, among other things, offer the function of non-invasive measurement of blood sugar levels. Although the description of the patent does not explicitly mention the measurement of blood sugar as such, it does mention sensors that can fulfill this function. Among other things, it is written here about, for example, "emission of electromagnetic waves at terahertz frequencies". This is non-ionizing radiation, which is not harmful in any way.
