With the weekend, we're also bringing you our traditional roundup of Apple-related speculation, leaks, and more. This week we'll talk about new charging options, upcoming Macs and Apple Glasses options.

iPhone cases with charging AirPods

The first report of this column will once again concern the patent. The patent that will be discussed describes several types of cases and covers for the iPhone, which, in addition to the protective function, also offer the possibility of charging AirPods. The patent describes various types of accessories, from classic covers to resealable packaging or wallets, and the description even mentions covers with displays. These displays could show, for example, data on the battery charge status, or notifications - for example, on an incoming phone call. Not every patent that Apple registers will be implemented, but in this case the probability of a real product is relatively high.

New Macs

Last year, more than one analyst let it be known that Apple should introduce new additions to its MacBook Pro family this year. Recently, Ming-Chi Kuo, who is considered a reliable and well-informed expert, commented on them. According to him, this year Apple could introduce MacBook Pros with 14-inch and 16-inch display sizes, while all variants should be equipped with the Apple Silicon M-series processor from Apple. Kuo even predicts the demise of the Touch Bar, the return of the MagSafe charging connector and other ports. According to Kuo, the new MacBook Pros should get a design similar to the latest iPad Pros, and Apple should introduce them only in the second half of the year.

Apple Glasses feature

We still don't know too much about Apple's AR glasses, but that doesn't prevent various more or less wild speculations. The latest one is based on a real patent from Apple, and it sounds quite likely. Perhaps, among other things, Apple Glass could have the ability to unlock Macs and other Apple products - similar to how, for example, Apple Watch can be used to unlock Macs. The feature should work by zooming in on the device.
