Firmware update for MagSafe 3 cables

Apple continues to release unexpected firmware updates. This time, the charging two-meter USB-C to MagSafe cables received an update. Similar to the recent update to the MagSafe Duo chargers, it's not clear what the latest cable firmware brings. The firmware is labeled 10M1534, and to install its update, users don't have to do anything other than connect the cable to their Mac. For example, last year's MacBook Air, 3″ MacBook Pro from 14 and later, or the new 2021″ MacBook Pro are equipped with a MagSafe 16 charging port.

During the past week, participants in the beta testing program for developers received updates to the iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4 and macOS Ventura 13.3 operating systems. Among the news brought by iOS 16.4 are new functions in Safari, including push notifications and badges for the home screen, new emoji, partial changes in native Podcasts, animations in native Music, or perhaps new customization options for Focus mode for devices with Always-On displays.

According to available reports, the developer beta version of the macOS Ventura operating system offers new notifications regarding SD cards for MacBooks with Apple Silicon, partial bug fixes in applications in the iWork office suite, bug fixes in iCloud and other small things.

Using iOS 16 and iPadOS 16

Apple also published data on the adoption rate of the operating systems iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 during the past week. This happened for the first time since the versions of these operating systems were released to the public last fall. Apple says that 81% of all iPhones introduced in the past four years are now running iOS 16, while 72% of all iPhones are running iOS 16. Released data on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 usage is based on devices through which their owners have transacted in the App Store. As for iPadOS 16, it is used by 53% of all compatible devices introduced in the past four years and 50% of all compatible devices.
