Instagram comes with two-step verification (February 16)

Fortunately, Internet security is a topic that is being taken more and more seriously, and the result of this is Instagram's new feature in the form of two-step verification. The feature has already been tested and is now gradually being rolled out to the general public.

Two-step verification on Instagram works just like it does anywhere else. The user enters his username and password, and then a one-time security code is sent to his phone, after entering which he is logged in.

1Password has a new account for families (16/2)

The password manager 1Password is currently seen more as a sophisticated security tool intended for more advanced users. But the newly introduced account for families could change this paradigm. For $5 a month, everyone in a family of five gets their own account and shared space. It is managed by the account owner and it is possible to determine who has access to which password or file. Of course, all items are synchronized so that everyone has instant access to the most up-to-date information.

If the family has more than 5 members, each additional person is paid a dollar more per month. Within a family account, 1Password can be used on any number of devices belonging to that family.

In connection with the launch of the new account, the developer is offering a special bonus to those who create it by March 31. This is the possibility of an account for seven individual family members for the price of an account for a family of five, plus 2 GB of cloud storage for files and a deposit of $10 from the creators of the application, which in practice can mean, for example, another two months of free use.

Twitter will make it possible to search for GIFs when creating tweets and send videos (February 17)

Twitter announced two major news this week, including even better support for GIFs and the ability to send videos through private messages.

Moving images in GIF format began to appear on Twitter in mid-2014, when their support was implemented in the social network. Now their popularity here is likely to increase even more. Twitter has established direct cooperation with the large databases of GIF images GIPHY and Riffsy. The company announced it on its own blog av tweet.

Thus, when writing tweets and messages, the user will be able to search for a suitable moving image from a comprehensive menu that will always be available to him. The new icon for adding GIFs will be located in the bar above the keyboard, and when tapped, a gallery with its own search box will appear on the device's screen. It will be possible to search using keywords or by viewing many categories defined by different parameters.

Not all mobile Twitter users will get the ability to share GIFs more effectively at once. As it has done before, Twitter will roll out the new feature gradually over the coming weeks.

In addition to the support of these two GIF databases, Twitter then announced one more news, which is perhaps even more significant. In the near future, it will also be possible to send videos via private messages. Images can be sent via so-called Direct Messages for a long time, but a Twitter user has not been able to share videos privately until now. Unlike GIF databases, Twitter is launching this new feature now, globally and on Android and iOS at the same time.

Over the next week, Skype users in the US and Europe will gradually be able to make video calls with multiple people at the same time. Since the maximum number of participants is set at up to 25, Microsoft established a collaboration with Intel, which allowed it to use its servers to process a high volume of data.
