1Password changes data storage format (20.10)

AgileBits, the creators of the password management tool 1Password, announced that their application will soon switch from storing data in the AgileKeychain format to the OPVault format. AgileKeychain does not support encryption of URL addresses that are part of the keychain. Therefore, some doubts about the security of this format have arisen recently.

OPVault, a format introduced by AgileBits in 2012, encrypts more metadata and is therefore more secure. The developers are now preparing 1Password to fully migrate to this format, with some users of the keychain already using it. These include users of the latest trial version of 1Password for Windows. OPVault is also used for data storage via iCloud synchronization. AgileBits on your website they offer tutorials on how to switch to OPVault on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

Communication app Telegram is unavailable in Iran after its creator refused to share user data with the government (21/10)

The Telegram Messenger application is similar in type, appearance and functionality to, for example, Facebook's WhatsApp Messenger. However, it differs in its focus on encryption, security and privacy of communication. This is one of the reasons why she became one of the most popular communicators in Iran, where she often served for political discussions.

But a few months ago, the Iranian government decreed that tech companies would only be able to market their products in the country if they respected its policies and cultural rules. Now people living in Iran have lost the ability to use Telegram Messenger. The creator of Telegram, Pavel Durov, said that the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies asked him for access to the service's "espionage and censorship tools". Durov refused and Telegram disappeared from Iran. The head of the PR Ministry denied Durov's theses.

Boomerang is Instagram's answer to Live Photos

[vimeo id=”143161189″ width=”620″ height=”350″]

A few days ago, Instagram published a third application that is functionally independent of its main product. They were the previous ones Hyperlapse a layout, the latest one is called Boomerang. It is the simplest of the three – it has a single button (trigger) and, apart from sharing, it does not allow any setting or change of the result. Pressing the shutter button initiates the capture of ten images in quick succession, after which the algorithm creates a time-lapse video lasting a single second. This then plays back and forth, endlessly.

The Boomerang app is available for free in the App Store.

Guitar Hero Live has arrived on iOS

[youtube id=”ev66m8Obosw” width=”620″ height=”350″]

Guitar Hero Live for iOS does not appear to be a fundamentally different game from its console counterpart. This means that the player's task is to correctly "play" as many notes as possible in a given piece, while his performances are met with interactive reactions from other musicians on stage and the audience. Primarily for the second part of the gaming experience, Guitar Hero Live requires 3GB of free space on your device's storage to install.

The game can be downloaded from the App Store download for free, but contains only two tracks. Others are available via in-app purchase.

The award-winning game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is now also available for iOS device owners

In Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the player simultaneously controls two boy characters who embark on a journey to find water from the tree of life, which is the only one that can help their seriously ill father. At the same time, he has to deal with the unpleasant inhabitants of the village, the supernatural and the unwelcoming, albeit beautiful, nature.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was originally a collaboration between developers Starbreeze Studios and Swedish director Josef Fares. When it was released in 2013 for consoles and Windows, it received critical acclaim and many awards. The version for mobile devices is, of course, simplified in practically every way, but there are no significant changes. The visuals and environment of the game are still very rich, and the gameplay has been adapted to the small touch screens by the absence of any controls except for two virtual joysticks, one for each brother.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is on the App Store available for 4,99 euros.

Important update

Chrome learned Split View on iOS

iOS 9 didn't bring that many new features to the iPhone, but the improvements that the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 received in particular are really essential. Full-fledged multitasking was enabled on the latest iPads, which allows you to run two applications at the same time and work with them on two halves of the display. But something like this requires developers to adapt their applications to such use, which fortunately is happening in a big way.

This week, the popular Chrome internet browser received support for the so-called Split View. So if you use Chrome, you can finally work with a web page on one half of the display and use any other application that supports Split View on the other half. In addition, the Chrome update also brought support for automatic filling of forms, so you will be able to save, for example, payment card data and thus save yourself from constantly typing them out manually.

Trello on iOS 9 brings support for multitasking and 3D Touch

Trello, the popular application for team management of tasks and collaboration on projects, has come with a new version. It mainly brings support for the functions of Apple's latest hardware and software, so users can look forward to full-fledged multitasking on the iPad and 3D Touch support on the iPhone.

On the iPad, it is now possible to complete tasks on one half of the screen and check them off in Trello on the other half. On the iPhone, the user can use a stronger finger press to trigger quick actions from the application icon. Peek and Pop is also available, so 3D Touch will make it easier for the user to work inside the application. But that's not all. Support for action notifications has also been added, from which it is possible to directly reply to comments. The last important innovation is the support of the system Spotlight, thanks to which you will be able to search for your tasks easier and faster than ever before.

Runkeeper finally works on Apple Watch without an iPhone

The watchOS 2 operating system came with native app support, which means a big opportunity for independent developers. Great use of such an option can be made, among other things, for fitness applications, which can therefore function independently on the Apple Watch, as they have gained the ability to access the watch's motion sensors. However, many developers have not used this option yet, and the latest update of Runkeeper is therefore a novelty that is definitely worth paying attention to.

The popular running application now communicates directly with the sensors of the watch and thus has the possibility to obtain data about your movement or heart rate. Finally, it is not necessary to run with an iPhone so that the application can measure your run. However, you will still have to take your phone with you if you want to keep track of your route, as the Apple Watch does not have its own GPS chip.

One of the added values of Runkeeper is that it allows you to listen to music from iTunes, Spotify and your own Runkeeper DJ during training, and another interesting novelty is connected with this function. The application in version 6.2 brings the ability to view an analysis of how fast you ran while listening to individual songs. You can easily analyze if your acceleration during a brisk song was just a feeling or a reality.

Clear has learned to be "proactive"

In order to fully utilize the possibilities of iOS 9, the popular Clear task book from the developer studio Realmac Software has also been launched. The latter received support for a deeper connection with "proactive" Siri and the Spotlight system search engine, so it should now respond better to the user's activity and offer him relevant information. Using Siri, you can now add tasks to specific lists.

In addition, the developers have also completely switched to the modern Swift programming language. The user probably doesn't have a chance to notice this, but it's nice to know that the creators of the application keep up with the times and try to keep their product in line with the latest technological trends.
