The Need for Speed series certainly needs no introduction, at least not to fans of racing games. It will come as no surprise to you that the new Need for Speed for iOS looks very good. The garage can be filled with dozens of virtual models of real cars, and all of them can be changed and improved using elements and parts from the extensive menu. EA Games boasts over 250 million combinations, including Rocket Bunny, Mad Mike and Vaughn Gittin Jr kits.

The popular Reeder is finally out in version 3.0 and is back on top on OS X

Along with the new OS X El Capitan, a sharp version of the popular RSS reader Reeder with the designation 3.0 also arrived in the Mac App Store. It must be said at the outset that the new version is a free update for existing customers. However, we included Reeder 3 among the new applications because it has come a long way since version 2.0.

The big difference is visible at first glance, because the application has been adapted to the appearance of OS X Yosemite and El Capitan. So the user can choose from several modern-looking color schemes, which are in a classic flat design with contrasting colors and transparent elements. You'll also notice that the app uses the new San Francisco font that Apple deployed across El Capitan.

Added support for the system share button. Smart folders can now display the number of unread and starred messages, and private browsing is also enabled. The fullscreen mode now works even in a reduced window layout, and support for the new Split View mode from OS X El Capitan has also been added. Gestures also work perfectly in the new Reeder to facilitate control.

Of course, the application also retained its former advantages. It supports a variety of RSS services such as Feedly, Feedbin, Feed Wrangler, Fever, FeedHQ, Inoreader, NewsBlur, Minimal Reader, The Old Reader, BazQux Reader, Readability and Instapaper. Of course, there is also an abundance of services for sharing the given articles.

If you don't already own Reeder, you can purchase it from the Mac App Store for € 9,99.

Important update

MindNode has received new features from iOS 9

MindNode is an iOS app for creating mind maps and brainstorming. Its current version contains all the basic news of iOS 9, i.e. multitasking on the iPad in Split Screen and Slide Over modes, searching in the content of the application through Spotlight, opening documents directly from iCloud Drive, opening links directly in the application, full support for languages read from right to left, etc. .

In addition, the management of documents in iCloud Drive has been improved, two sets of stickers have been added, and support for PDF images has also been added. To display a larger preview of a document, just hold your finger on its thumbnail in the list for a while. The update also includes many other minor modifications and fixes.

Apple Watch users can now view Google Maps on their wrist.

Although Apple maps are much better than they were at the time of their introduction, they still lose a lot to competing maps from Google, at least in Europe. So Google Maps has many loyal users in our region, who will surely be pleased to find their favorite maps on the Apple Watch.

Although Google Maps on Apple watches does not yet offer the same user experience as Apple Maps, that may change quickly with the launch of watchOS 2. The new operating system for the Apple Watch allows applications to run natively on the watch, and Maps from Google will eventually come with gadgets, such as vibration navigation, which are offered by Apple Maps. So now the user will enjoy at least basic functions such as getting information about the arrival time or text navigation.

Airmail 2.5 comes with support for OS X El Capitan and is preparing for the arrival of the iPhone version

Popular email app Airmail, which is being talked about as a successor to the canceled Sparrow app, has received a major update that comes with a whole host of new features. Airmail 2.5 now fully supports the OS X El Capitan system, including the San Francisco font and the new Split Screen. In preparation for Airmail for iPhone, the application also learned to synchronize folder colors, aliases, signatures, profile icons and overall settings via iCloud. Handoff support was also added.

Direct integration of popular services such as Wunderlist, Todoist or OneDrive is also a big news. Overall, the performance of the application was improved, including synchronization or, for example, searching for folders or emails from specific data. Support for various gestures has also been improved for easier control. Finally, it is worth mentioning the optimization of the application for Retina displays.

The new Skype for OS X El Capitan and iOS can handle half of the screen in full-screen mode

Within a few days, new versions of Skype for OS X El Capitan and iOS were released. While on the Mac the new function of displaying two windows side by side in full-screen mode is only a new way of using multitasking (even the previous Skype for Mac could display the video call window as a so-called picture-in-picture), in iOS 9 this means adding support for full-fledged multitasking. This also includes Slide Over, i.e. displaying a smaller application window for faster interaction.

In addition, Skype for Mac can now more simply add contacts that the given user has in the address book on their computer (with the option to add contacts) and in iOS you can initiate conversations directly from the search for contacts in Spotlight, just tap on the name.

GTD's Things app for Mac gets support for OS X El Capitan and Force Touch

The German developer studio Culture Code has released an interesting update for its popular app Things. The developers adapted Things just in time for the new operating system OS X El Capitan, and the application in version 2.8 runs without problems in Split View mode on half the screen. We can't forget the new San Francisco font, which the application uses for a new time and thus harmonizes with the system.

However, the adaptation to the hardware gadget of the latest Macs, which is a special trackpad with Force Touch technology, is a significant novelty. This means that owners of the most modern Macs have the possibility to use a stronger press of the trackpad to control the application and thus trigger special actions.

Bartender 2 comes with OS X El Capitan support

Another popular application called Bartender was also adapted for the new OS X El Capitan. This tool is used to manage your items located in the upper system bar (menu bar) and allows you to keep order even in this corner of the OS X user interface. Thanks to optimization for the new version of OS X, you can now use the application even in El Capitan without having to turn off SIP (System Integrity Protection), which is definitely good news.

Also new is the ability to navigate across applications in the upper system bar and in the Bartender interface using arrows. To select an application that you can navigate to with the arrows, just press the Enter key. For an even tidier upper system bar, it is also possible to hide the Bartender icon itself. You can then access all the applications that you manage within this application using a simple keyboard shortcut. A great new feature is the ability to search for applications in the Bartender interface by simply entering text on the keyboard.

Developers on your website offers the opportunity to try the application for free for a week, so if you are interested, there is nothing easier than downloading it. After the trial period is over, it is possible to buy the app for a solid price of $15. The price for upgrading from version 1.0 is then half.
