News from the world of applications

Google Releases Its News & Weather App for Apple Watch (12/5)

Google released its first app for the Apple Watch this week. It is Google News & Weather, a handy news aggregator complete with weather forecast. Just like on the iPhone and iPad, the task of the application on the Apple Watch is to display the most important news from the default areas that Google obtains from various sources. It is basically a certain alternative to RSS readers.

It is good news that Google is not sabotaging the Apple Watch, and the update to Google News & Weather is a kind of promise that in the future we could expect to see other applications from the Google portfolio adapted to the Apple Watch.

BitTorrent brings the most secure communication to iOS and Mac

If you're looking for a secure communication app and don't want to worry about your voice, text, or images reaching uninvited ears and eyes, the gold standard is direct peer-to-peer communication with end-to-end encryption. There aren't too many apps on the market that offer something similar. But the novelty Bleep from BitTorrent is one of them and it looks very interesting.

Bleep offers a beautiful modern user interface as well as advanced features. There is a communication option called Whispers, whose domain is that messages and images disappear immediately after being read. The second option is classic encrypted communication, which is stored locally on the phone. The user also has the option of encrypted voice calls.

The Whispers feature is even sophisticated to the point that the secret communication screen cannot be removed in the classic way. In short, the application will not let you take a screenshot by holding down the Home button and pressing the button to lock the phone. According to BitTorrent, the security of your communication is also guaranteed by the fact that messages are never stored in any cloud.

Bleep is free to download and available in the App Store in a universal version for iPhone and iPad. On the developer's website a desktop version for Mac is also available for download.

Important update

OneNote for Mac has learned to record audio

Through the Mac App Store, the advanced notebook OneNote from Microsoft received an interesting update. He learned to record sound and assign it to notes, which is an invaluable function, for example, at school during a lecture. Right in the note window, just click Insert, select the Audio Recording option, and OneNote will start recording immediately.

In addition to this news, which makes OneNote perhaps the best electronic school notebook on the market, Microsoft also brings other news. It is now possible to search for handwritten notes inside the application. In addition, cross-device support for equations has been added, and there is finally a "Deleted Notes" folder that allows you to browse deleted notes.

Google Docs and Slides now allow inserting images

Google released interesting updates to its two office applications, Documents and Presentations, this week. They bring only one big news. But it is really useful. The user can now insert images into the document directly on the phone or iPad. It is possible to insert from the phone's memory and quickly take a picture directly from the application.

In addition, Google Slides brings one more minor improvement, thanks to which it is now possible to start editing mode by double-clicking on an image in the presentation. The good news is that both new features can be used by the user even without an internet connection.

Sunrise Calendar introduced the "meeting" keyboard

Sunrise Calendar is one of the most popular calendars for iOS. Its latest, fourth, version includes a very specific keyboard for iOS 8 called “Meet”.

Meet is a keyboard for iOS 8 that lets you schedule a meeting for two wherever you are, without having to open your calendar.

The keyboard consists of tiles with free dates and times that can be set and sent to the other party as a short link with one tap. When the other party accepts the invitation and selects one of the available dates, the scheduled meeting is automatically added to both calendars.

Day One adds its own journal synchronization service

Day One is a simple application primarily designed to be used as a diary. Synchronization of records here has been done through iCloud or Dropbox. But with the latest update, the company introduced Day One Sync, its own sync service. This will not be the only use of Day One Sync. In the future, users can look forward to new functions associated with it, such as the ability to write several diaries, shared diaries, access to Day One via the web, etc.

The app also received two new fonts, “Open Sans” and “Roboto,” expanded the content of diagnostic emails, and eliminated several bugs in Day One for Apple Watch.

In addition to Day One Sync, the version for OS X now supports the extension for Yosemite, its "night mode" and the new Photos application.

The single player mode has been enriched with three new missions, five new Stronghold rooms can be built containing five new traps, and five new weapons and shields can be obtained. Everyone can participate in daily challenges, for the completion of which players will be rewarded with lottery tickets that increase the chance of obtaining interesting items from the Xinkashi chest. Generally, added content is marked with fives. The player's fortress can be guarded by five helpers, five new weapons and shields can be obtained, and their other five can then be won as part of the weekly Wanted Challenges.
