News from the world of applications

Google connects its services more closely by making photos from Google + available in Google Drive (March 30)

Until now, Google Drive was able to view almost all files across a given user's account - except photos from Google +. That is changing now. For those who don't use Google +, or for those who prefer to access their photos from their Google social network profile, this means nothing. All images from the Google + profile will continue to remain there, but they will also be available from Google Drive, which will simplify their organization. This means that these images can be added to folders without having to re-upload them.

For those who have a large gallery of images on Google +, it may take up to several weeks to transfer them to Google Drive. So be patient. An update was also released in connection with this news official iOS app for Google Drive, which also brings the function to mobile devices.

Adobe Comp CC makes iPad accessible to web and app designers

Adobe Comp CC is an application that provides designers with rather basic tools. However, at the same time, it allows an easy transition between them and full-fledged tools on the desktop.

The application is mainly intended for initial sketches and basic concepts when creating the design of websites and applications. Therefore, it uses simple gestures, thanks to which one can create a field for text by simply swiping the screen, by swiping with three fingers to "scroll" between individual steps on an infinite timeline of the file (which also allows you to load the file at the time of any export) and use a wide selection of fonts . Adobe Creative Cloud users can also work with its tools and libraries. This is a must to use Adobe Comp CC, at least in its free version.

Adobe Comp CC also allows integration of elements created by Photoshop, Illustrator, Photoshop Sketch and Draw, Shape CC and Color CC. A fully compatible file can be exported to InDesign CC, Photoshop CC and Illustrator CC.

Adobe Slate wants to simplify the creation and sharing of multimedia presentations on the iPad

Adobe Slate strives to make creating presentations on the iPad as efficient as possible, so it provides the user with many themes, templates and presets that can be applied with a few quick taps. The results then have a specific appearance different from classic presentations. They mainly emphasize large images with text used mostly only for headings. They are therefore not very suitable for serious lectures, but they stand out as a means of sharing photos and "stories" made from them.

The resulting presentations can be quickly uploaded to the Internet and items such as “Support Now”, “More Information” and “Offer Help” can be added. The application will also instantly provide a link to the created page accessible from any device capable of viewing the web.

Adobe Slate is available in the App Store for free.

Now Slack has also been added to the list of supported services, so the user can now upload documents directly to the team conversation.

In addition to the Slack service, the popular to-do application Wunderlist is also newly integrated. You can now conveniently add scanned documents to your tasks and projects in this application.

Evernote takes over Scannable features

In January, Evernote introduced the Scannable app, which expanded document scanning capabilities over the main Evernote app. These included automatically finding a document and scanning it, and using LinkedIn's database to retrieve and sync information from business cards. The Evernote application itself has now acquired these functions. Another novelty is the possibility to start a work chat directly from the main screen of the application and the item "recommended notes" in the widget.

Then, once the Apple Watch is available, its users will be able to use it to dictate notes and reminders and search. In addition, they will also be able to view the last notes on the watch.

Todoist features natural language input and colorful themes

The popular to-do app Todoist has come with a big and significant update. In version 10, it brings a whole range of new features, including the ability to enter tasks in natural language, quick addition of tasks and colorful themes. The company behind the app claims this is the biggest update in Todoist's history.

The biggest innovation of the 10th version of the application is smart task entry, thanks to which you can assign a deadline, priority and label to a task with a simple text command. The ability to quickly enter tasks is also a great feature. This manifests itself in the fact that you will have a red button for adding a task available across all views, and you will also be able to insert a new task with a pleasant gesture of expanding two tasks in the list. With this procedure, you will of course directly affect the inclusion of the task in a specific place on the list.

Also worth mentioning is the new option to choose from a number of color schemes and thus dress up the application in a garb that will be pleasing to the eye. However, this feature is only available to users of the premium version of the app.

You can download Todoist on both iPhone and iPad with basic features free. For premium features such as color themes, push notifications based on time or location, advanced filters, file uploads and much more, you will then pay €28,99 per year.
