News from the world of applications

Paper by FiftyThree gets autocorrect for drawing (17.3/XNUMX)

A new version of the popular drawing app Paper will be released next month, but the news that users can expect has already been revealed. The most important is the integration of the so-called "Itention Engine". It is not yet clear how exactly it will work, but the developers of the application promise something like automatic corrections for drawing. This will not so much concern draftsmen with artistic, as rather practical ambitions, i.e. when drawing graphs, text, etc. FiftyThree wants to make the work of those who use Paper for productive purposes much more efficient.

The second big news will be Think Kit, a set of yet unknown tools. Their function can only be speculated on the basis of the published screenshot, in which a ruler marker, scissors and a paint roller have been added to the toolbar.

FiftyThree CEO Georg Petschnigg announced the news by saying: “When you're working on a mobile device, you always have to tell it what you want to do before you start doing it. Show typing keyboard. Select a shape or pencil to draw. We want to make it possible to create with fluid simplicity, without the need to guide the computer first.”

Mail Pilot 2 will have a redesigned look and a version for Apple Watch (17.3.)

Mail Pilot is an email client from Mindsense developers for OS X and iOS that works with messages like tasks – they are archived after marking, it is possible to postpone them for later, divide them by topic, etc.

Its second version will bring especially a design adapted for OS X Yosemite. On the one hand, it works more with transparency and uses uniform colors as textures, on the other hand, it focuses mainly on content, and the application itself tries to recede into the background as much as possible with its controls. But the new look won't be the only change. Search speed, efficiency of working with attachments should be improved, and a button will be added to hide all messages sent by the bot.

Mail Pilot 2 will be available as a free upgrade for existing Mail Pilot users. But if you don't want to wait for the final version, you can sign up for public beta testing.

Mail Pilot for iOS will also get an update, but the most significant update will be the version of the app for Apple Watch. It will be able to display the inbox, notifications and through "Glances" also reminders for the given day. Mindsense is also working on a brand new email app called Periscope. But we will have to wait for more information about her.

Google switched to testing applications by people, but its approval process was not extended (March 17.3)

On average, it takes almost six days from the time an iOS developer submits their app to the App Store until the app becomes available to users.

Apps submitted to the Google Play Store, on the other hand, usually reach users within a few hours. One of the main reasons for this so far has seemed to be a different type of approval process, with Google using bots instead of people. However, that changed a few months ago, and Android applications are now approved by Google employees. However, the approval process was not prolonged.

In addition, applications in the Google Play Store have been newly divided according to age categories.

Final Fantasy XI players will see its mobile form next year (19/3)

Final Fantasy is a relatively widespread phenomenon on the mobile game market, but mostly it is relatively simple and limited versions of games known from computers. But Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix has now joined forces with the Korean arm of Nexon Corporation to bring one of the biggest MMO games, Final Fantasy XI, to mobile devices by next year. Both single-player and multiplayer modes will be available.

Compared to the computer version, which was originally released back in 2002, the mobile version will have several improvements related to the functionality of the single-player game, the combat system and the organization of groups. Among the news will be the appearance of characters and events in the game.

Final Fantasy XI PC players currently pay $13 for a monthly subscription. However, it is not yet clear what pricing policy the developers will choose on the mobile platform.

Important update

Google Maps brings full-screen mode and color resolution of public transport lines

Google Maps received interesting news in version 4.4.0. Newly, when searching for public transport connections, the lines are distinguished by color, which makes the route display much clearer. Also new is full-screen map mode support, which you can invoke by simply tapping on any empty spot on the map (without a point of interest). The latest innovation is the extended ability of voice search, which now understands the command "directions to...".

Camera+ has a new widget and supports iPhone 6

The popular Camera+ also received a big and important update. In version 6.2, it brings a handy widget to the Notification Center, thanks to which you can access the application even from a locked phone with a single press. In addition, Camera+ will always open in shooting mode in this case, regardless of the state you left it in when you last used it. You can also have inspirational tips for photographers ("Photo Tips") displayed in the Notification Center.

In addition to this big news, the update also brings new options for setting the white balance, which you can now enter with an exact number on the Kelvin scale. But the application also offers various preset values, so it will satisfy even less demanding and advanced users.

The possibility of direct sharing of images on Instagram was also added, and the last big news is the optimization of the application for the larger displays of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

The blogging app Medium finally lets you create and publish posts

The official app of the Medium blogging service has received an update that finally allows you to create and publish posts. In addition, the application also supports the dictation function, so you can theoretically speak the text to your blog.

The Medium app brings all the basic features of the service. It is therefore possible to format the title, sub-heading, citations and, for example, upload images. However, the application has an unpleasant catch. It allows you to work with only one post at a time, which is stored locally. Only when you delete your text or publish it on the blog can you start a new one. Currently, the application does not allow texts to be shared, synchronized or edited. However, the company stated that it is working on the mentioned functions.

The update also brought some news related to reading. A function has been added to allow clicking to continue reading or the option to view media files and statistics of the given post.

Medium for iPhone and iPad is in the App Store Free Download.

The SignEasy extension enables the easiest way to sign a document

Thanks to the update, the rather popular SignEasy application has received a handy extension, thanks to which you can sign any document using the share button without having to switch between applications.

[youtube id=”-hzsArreEqk” width=”600″ height=”350″]

The application handles word documents as well as PDF and JPG files. You can draw and insert your own signature, but it is also possible to enrich the document with text, data or symbols. Of course, all objects can be freely moved and resized. You can then share the edited document via e-mail.

SignEasy is available as a free download. However, the application cannot be used for free. You will pay $5 for the basic package containing ten signature options, and if this limit is not enough for you, you will have to buy a Pro license for €40 or a Business license for €80 per year. With this subscription, in addition to an unlimited number of signatures, you also get the ability to freely draw on the document, integration of Dropbox, Google Drive and Evernote, signing in offline mode and security with Touch ID.
