We have another day and with it some really spicy news that will gradually be bought, and it looks like they are juicier than ever. While the first positive news led by Netflix, which scores points with its series Queen's Gambit, is probably not too surprising, in the case of China and Twitter, we would not be so sure. It was China that sent a special rocket to the moon, the purpose of which is to collect lunar dust, which will then be analyzed in laboratories. No less shocking is the new function of Twitter, which will automatically warn you that a given tweet is misleading or false and somehow throw this fact before you, even if you only rate the given post with a thumbs up.

Netflix gets a standing ovation for its Queen's Gambi series. And a pretty fat income too

If you're an active fan of Netflix, you surely haven't missed the popular new series Queen's Gambit, about a gifted orphan who learns to play chess brilliantly and becomes a world champion. Although this story sounds rather non-standard, the icing on the cake is that the protagonist is a woman and, above all, the whole plot takes place in the 60s and 70s. However, do not be fooled, the series does not only play on emotions and instead offers an engaging and captivating story of a difficult fate. Either way, according to the numbers so far, Netflix can celebrate because it hit the nail on the head. Queen's Gambit surpassed the milestone of 62 million views and thus reached roughly the level of the positively rated The Irishman and the controversial series Tiger King.

On the other hand, Netflix is often secretive with its numbers and they don't always correspond to reality. Last year, the company switched to a new metric that indicates the number of viewers, and the new rules state that if the person in question watches a series or movie for at least two minutes, the platform automatically considers it a full playback. In practice, these numbers behave similarly to, for example, YouTube, where you just open a video and watch in real time how views increase. Even so, this is a remarkable result, which was a serious bet on uncertainty, and we can only hope that Netflix dares to take similar risks in the future. This time it paid off for the media giant.

China sends its own Chang'e rocket to the moon. He wants to collect samples of moon dust

The space race has really taken off recently, and it seems that SpaceX and NASA are no longer dominant in this industry. Other foreign organizations and agencies are increasingly finding their way to the fore, whether it is the European space agency ESA or the Chinese equivalent of NASA. It was the eastern rival of the United States that conquered several milestones and made progress that other countries could only dream of. Thanks to this, China was able to send the Chang'e rocket to the moon, which is supposed to fulfill a relatively simple and straightforward mission. All you have to do is collect enough lunar dust before the new year and then successfully bring it back to Earth.

However, it will not only be about surface samples, because the rocket is also equipped with special lunar modules, thanks to which it will be possible to drill into the surface and thus obtain dust from a greater depth. It should also be noted that the probe is supposed to load up to 2 kilograms of dust, which is the most in the last few decades. Of course, there will also be appropriate technological tools for effective sample analysis, but even so, most of the work will take place here on Earth. For this reason, China has set itself a rather bold goal of getting the Chang'e rocket home by the new year, a narrow window of time at best. We can only hope that the ambitious plan will succeed. After all, SpaceX's competition will instead accelerate technological progress.

Twitter has come up with a unique way to prevent misinformation. It alerts you to misleading tweets

Along with the American elections, the fight against disinformation has also flared up. Although this important period has already ended, it certainly does not mean that the publication of false news has stabilized. In fact, the opposite is true, Joe Biden's victory fueled the conflict between the two parties, which are gradually becoming more radicalized. For this reason as well, the community and politicians are appealing to the technology giants who have committed to fighting misinformation. And one of them is Twitter, which took the whole fight rather unconventionally and came up with an interesting concept on how to prevent massive dissemination. Just alert the user to the misleading tweet, especially if they give it a thumbs up.

Until now, although the company has flagged tweets and posts as misleading or false, alarmist reports and further dissemination have still occurred. So the developers rushed to come up with a solution, thanks to which it was possible to reduce the impact of these messages by up to 29%. It was enough to warn users directly, not only when sharing a tweet, but also when liking it. Thanks to this, users are more motivated to search for more information and, above all, to read the short description that is found with each reported post. A number of potential targets of propaganda and disinformation can thus prevent the spread and possibly alert others to the objectionable nature of the post. We can only hope that the fight will intensify and the hybrid media war will eventually force users to verify their information.
