It came like a bolt from the blue notification Twitter, in which the popular microblogging network informs about a completely new design of its website, as well as redesigned applications for iOS and Android. So what does the new Twitter look like?

The appearance of the website itself has completely changed Twitter.com, however, if you still see the old interface, don't worry, you will also see it in time. Twitter is rolling out the new interface in waves and should be rolling out to all users in the coming weeks. The changes, at least the "functional" ones, are similar to the new Twitter app for iOS, so let's jump right into it.

The new Twitter for iPhone version 4.0 is again available for free in the App Store, iPad users have to wait for news for now.

You will be the first to notice the new graphics processing in the updated official client. Responses to the new colors are mixed - some fell in love with the new Twitter immediately, while others shout that it's even worse than before. Well, judge for yourself.

An even more important innovation are the four navigation buttons in the bottom panel – Home, Connect, Discover a Me, which serves as a signpost for all the activity you can do on Twitter.

Home

Bookmark Home can be considered as the start screen. Here we can find a classic timeline with a list of all tweets from users we follow, and at the same time we can create our own tweet. Compared to previous versions, however, the swipe gesture no longer works for individual posts, so if we want, for example, to respond to a tweet or display user information, we must first click on the given post. Only then will we get to the details and other options.

Connect

In the tab Connect all activity associated with your account is displayed. Under Legal hides all replies to your tweets, v interactions information about who retweeted your post, who liked it or who started following you is added to them.

Discover

The name of the third tab says it all. Under the icon Discover in short, you discover what's new on Twitter. You can follow current topics, trends, search for your friends or someone random on Twitter's recommendation to start following.

Me

The last tab is for your own account. It offers a quick overview of the number of tweets, followers and users following you. You'll also find access to private messages, drafts, lists, and saved search results. Below, you can easily switch between individual accounts, or get to the settings.

There are indeed a lot of news, Twitter thinks that these are changes for the better. Only time will tell if that will actually be the case. Although initial impressions are entirely positive, it still seems to me that the official application still lacks significantly against competing clients. There's really no reason to switch from a Tweetbot or Twitterrific like this.
