The end of the first full-fledged New Year's week is slowly approaching, and with it, news in the technological world begins to accumulate, which wait for no one and roll one after the other. While in the previous days we talked about Elon Musk and SpaceX out of obligation, now it's time to also give space to "competition" in the form of NASA, which is preparing for its long-term Artemis project. There will also be a mention of Donald Trump, who has nowhere else to publish his outbursts, and Waymo, which pokes fun at Tesla and points to its autonomous driving mode. We won't delay and we'll get straight to it.

Donald Trump lost his Twitter account for 24 hours. Again due to misleading misinformation

The US election is long over. Joe Biden is the rightful winner and it almost looks like there will be a peaceful handover of power. But of course that didn't happen and Donald Trump is kicking all around himself just to prove that he is the one who won the election. For this reason, he often accuses Democrats of fraud on social networks, attacks the media and vents his anger on his colleagues. And this very decision could cost him dearly, according to Twitter. The technology giant ran out of patience and decided to completely block the former American president for 24 hours. The world breathed a sigh of relief that day.

And there is nothing to be surprised about, because in the last three tweets, Trump leaned heavily on the Democrats and, above all, spread disinformation that was recorded against Joe Biden's opponents. It also resulted in a more or less coordinated attack on the Capitol, where protesters clashed with the National Guard and police. However, although the area was secured, everyone ran out of patience and decided to silence Donald Trump at all costs. Twitter can't block his account forever, at least not yet, but even 24 hours is enough for the former US president to remove controversial tweets and possibly create a message for his supporters to discourage them from further violence.

NASA is starting to implement its plans after the epic video. Project Artemis is finally starting

As we mentioned in the previous days, the space agency NASA is not delaying and is constantly trying to keep up with SpaceX. Also for this reason, the organization published a short and properly epic video, which is supposed to serve as a kind of trailer for the upcoming space flights and at the same time to lure the Artemis project, i.e. the effort to get a man to the moon again. And as it turned out, it's not just about empty promises and trying to compete at all costs. NASA intends to test the SLS rocket, which will accompany the Orion spacecraft to our close neighbor. After all, NASA has been testing boosters and other parts of the rocket for quite a long time, and it would be a shame not to use these aspects in practice.

The short mission called SLS Green Run is thus to ensure a full-scale test that will check whether the rocket can carry the vessel and, above all, how it copes with high-altitude flight. Compared to SpaceX, NASA still has a lot to catch up on, especially in terms of reusable rockets, but it is still a great step forward. The space agency has been planning the Artemis project for several years, as well as the trip to Mars, which is soon to follow. Although we'll probably have to wait a while for that, it's still nice to know that we'll get to the Red Planet one day. And most likely thanks to NASA and SpaceX.

Waymo is making fun of Tesla. It decided to rename its autonomous driving mode

Technology company Waymo is undoubtedly one of the biggest pioneers in the world of self-driving cars. In addition to many delivery vehicles and trucks, the manufacturer also participates in passenger cars themselves, which is reflected in the fact that it is in direct competition with Tesla. And as it turns out, this "sibling" rivalry is what drives both companies forward. Even so, Waymo couldn't forgive itself for taking a slight jab at Tesla with its autonomous driving mode. Until now, most manufacturers used the term "self-driving mode", but this turned out to be quite misleading and inaccurate due to the nature of the mode.

After all, Tesla is often criticized for this approach, and it's no wonder. In practice, the self-driving mode would mean that the driver does not have to be present at all, and although this is the case in many cases, Elon Musk still more or less relies on the presence of a person behind the wheel. That's why Waymo decided to name its feature "autonomous mode", where the person can adjust how much assistance they actually want. On the other hand, although Tesla's competition meant it mainly as a joke, trying to draw attention to the inaccurate designation of similar functions, at the same time it wants to use the renaming to inspire other companies to create a uniform and accurate designation.
