Apple CEO Tim Cook met with President Donald Trump. At Friday's dinner, they mainly discussed the impact of new taxes on products imported from China. It would fundamentally harm Apple's competitiveness against rivals such as Samsung.

Trump is said to have acknowledged Tim Cook's arguments. The additional tax burden would be directly reflected in the prices of products that Apple imports from mainland China. The factories there assemble almost everything from the company, except for the Mac Pro, which was manufactured in the USA.

This would increase product prices and make it difficult for Apple to compete with companies based outside the US, such as South Korea's Samsung. Cook also referred to the entire domestic economy and the impact that additional taxes could cause.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's administration continues its trade war with China. Trump wants to use the tax burden as an incentive for companies to make more of their products domestically in the US.

Apple Watch and AirPods will be taxed in the first wave

Additional tax tariffs should come into force next month. The next 10% increase was due on September 1. This was to affect approximately over $300 billion worth of imported goods. However, according to the latest reports, the government will postpone the validity until September 15.

Dani will avoid products such as iPhone, iPad or Macbooks in two weeks. On the contrary, the very successful wearables Apple Watch and AirPods are still in the first wave, including the HomePod. If there is no change, they will have higher tariffs from September 1.

Apple already in June he appealed against the increased taxes and argued, that these steps will not only harm the company itself, but the overall US economy in the global market. So far, however, the company, like many others, has not been heard.
