After the first experiences from beta number one, where we described to you major news of the upcoming iOS 6. A little while later you could read about other points of interest of the new mobile operating system from Cupertino, California. In the meantime, some weeks have already passed, the autumn launch is slowly but surely approaching, so Apple is not idle and has already released the third beta version. It does not offer anything revolutionary, it only fixes the shortcomings.

A new item has been added to Settings Maps. In it, you can choose metric or imperial units, display primarily English names and enlarge labels. In addition to these small details, the map bases also show side streets on a smaller scale. Traffic and road complications are also shown here in the Czech Republic. The marking of the residential area in gray color is still missing, but hopefully by the fall, Apple and its partners will work intensively on the maps.

The Safari internet browser has undergone cosmetic changes. In the bookmarks menu, the individual items at the bottom of the pop-up windows are not written in words, but using symbols.

Although this fact is not directly related to the third beta of iOS 6, Apple will assign current iCloud users an email address ending in @ icloud.com, which is just the logical outcome of MobileMe's transformation into iCloud. If you don't have an email yet @ me.com, you better hurry. It is not yet known whether registrations under this domain will be completely canceled later.

Update:

Owners of older iPhone 3GS can probably dance. Their older model got VIP contacts in the email client and Photo Stream sharing in the third beta. However, features such as an offline reading list or turn-by-turn navigation are still missing. Whether Apple will also allow these news from iOS 6 is still in the stars and we can only wait for the final version.
