At the beginning of the week, we witnessed the first ever Apple Keynote of the year. At this conference, we saw many new and interesting products, led by AirTags location tags, a new generation of Apple TV, a completely redesigned iMac and an improved iPad Pro. Along with the redesigned iMac, we also got a redesign of the accessories, i.e. Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. All these accessories received new colors, of which seven are available in total - just like the colors of the new iMac. With the Magic Keyboard, we finally got biometric authentication using Touch ID, which is a feature that millions of users have been waiting for.

Thanks to Touch ID, which is a new part of the Magic Keyboard, users of iMacs with M1 will finally not have to authenticate with a password. If you then own a MacBook with an M1 that is remote and you use an external keyboard with a mouse or trackpad for it, this means that you will not have to lean towards the built-in keyboard for authorization. It should be noted that you can use the new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID on all Apple computers that have an Apple Silicon chip, so currently it is only the M1. But the truth is that the iPad Pro (1) also got the aforementioned M2021 chip, and many users wondered whether it was possible to use Touch ID on the new Magic Keyboard in combination with the aforementioned iPad Pro. The answer in this case is simple and clear - no. So you can use Touch ID on the latest Magic Keyboard only on iMacs and MacBooks with the M1 chip, nowhere else.

On the one hand, this "restriction" may seem illogical in a way. The M1 chip is the same in all Apple devices and does not differ in anything, so it should definitely not be a problem for Apple to integrate this "function" into the new iPad Pros - personally, I would not look for a buried dog in this. In any case, the iPad Pro has Face ID, which is more advanced and newer than Touch ID, and which also works when the iPad is turned to landscape. In my opinion, Apple just didn't want to get ahead. In just a few months, we will see new iPhones which, according to available information, should offer both Face ID and Touch ID (built into the display). The Californian giant may therefore want to hold the premiere of this "double" security on the iPhone and not in a combination of the less important Magic Keyboard and iPad Pro.
