Finder, as the basic file manager of the Apple operating system, does not offer a large range of functions. It represents a sort of standard that will cover most of the operations you will perform with files. However, you won't find more advanced functions like working with two windows here. That's why he comes to help Total Finder.

Total Finder is not a standalone program but an extension for native Finder. Thanks to this, you can continue to work in its native environment, but this time with additional options. After installation, you will get another tab in Preferences Total Finder, from where you manage all additional functions.

Tweaks

  • Bookmarks - Finder it will now work as an internet browser. Instead of individual windows, you'll have everything open in a single instance Finder and you will switch individual windows using the tabs at the top. Bookmarks can be both single windows and double windows (see below). No more chaos with many windows open at once.
  • View system files – It shows files and folders that are normally hidden and you don't normally have access to them.
  • Folders on top – Folders will be sorted first in the list, and then individual files, as Windows users know for example.
  • Dual Mode – One of the most useful features Total Finder. After pressing the keyboard shortcut, the window will double, so you will have two independent windows next to each other, as you know from advanced file managers. All operations between folders will be much easier.
  • Cut/Paste – Adds a remove operation, which is completely missing from the system for reasons I don't understand. So you can move files and folders using keyboard shortcuts (cmd+X, cmd+V) instead of dragging with the mouse. In addition, you will also have the option of cut/copy/paste in the context menu.
  • It is possible to set the Finder to open in a maximized window.

Asepsis

For example, if you've ever connected a flash drive first to a Mac and then to a computer with another operating system, I'm sure you've noticed that OS X has created additional folders and files for you that are normally hidden. The Asepsis function ensures that the files .DS_Store stored in one local folder on the computer and thus did not remain on your portable media or network locations.

Viewfinder

Visor is an interesting feature adopted from Terminal. If you turn it on, it will snap Finder to the bottom of the screen and will remain horizontally maximized. So you only change its size vertically. Additionally, even if you move between individual screens (when using Spaces), Finder is also scrolling. This can be useful in cases where you work with several programs at once and still need to have Finder on eyes. I personally have never used this feature, but maybe there are those who will find it useful.

Total Finder is a very useful extension with which you get several essential functions that you ve Finder maybe they were always missing. One license will cost you 15 dollars, then you can buy three for 30 dollars, where you can donate the remaining two. In three, you can buy the program for only 10 dollars. If you still plan to get it for yourself, it's currently on sale at macupdate.com for 11,25 dollars.
