It's been a little over two years since Apple introduced a robot named Liam during one of its conferences, whose specialty was the complete disassembly of the iPhone and the preparation of individual components for further recycling and processing of precious metals. After two years, Liam received a successor that is better in all respects and thanks to him, Apple will recycle old iPhones better and more efficiently. The new robot is called Daisy and she can do a lot.

Apple has released a new video where you can see Daisy in action. It should be able to adequately disassemble and sort parts from up to two hundred iPhones of different types and ages for further recycling. Apple presented Daisy in connection with events related to environmental issues. Customers can now take advantage of a program called GiveBack, where Apple recycles their old iPhone and gives them a discount for future purchases.

Daisy is said to be based directly on Liam and, according to the official statement, it is the most efficient robot that is focused on recycling electronics. It is capable of disassembling nine different iPhone models. Its use makes it possible to recycle materials that cannot be obtained in any other way. A team of engineers worked on its development for almost five years, with their first effort (Liam) seeing the light of day two years ago. Liam was three times the size of Daisy, the entire system was more than 30 meters long and involved 29 different robotic components. Daisy is considerably smaller and is made up of only 5 different sub-bots. So far, there is only one Daisy, located in the development center in Austin. However, the second should appear relatively soon in the Netherlands, where Apple also operates on a large scale.
