Filip Brož If you've visited the App Store in the last week, you've probably noticed a slight change in the ranking of the most downloaded apps in the free section. The retro game Timberman, which is very similar to a similar bestseller, literally took first place Flappy Bird.

However, Timberman has been in the App Store since the beginning of May this year, but only until it was included in the selection by Apple itself Editor's Choice earned the developer more than 2,5 million downloads in just three days.
The whole game is based on a very single concept, which has a huge competitive and self-motivating character, because you constantly beat your own record. In the main role, you will be introduced to a sympathetic woodcutter, with whom you have the task of chopping a tree. You only have two options for mowing, either from the right or from the left. The trick is that you always have to dodge the branches that gradually appear as you shorten the tree. The faster you pinch, the more your time limit will increase. I personally tried the slow pinching method as well, but usually I was either pressed for time or I didn't have as quick reactions and perception as when I tried to pinch quickly.
The design is in the style of retro dice games, which you surely know from the first game consoles. In the game you can also see several graphic designs in the style of changing seasons or day and night. When I compare Timberman with the famous Flappy Bird, it seems like a completely identical game. The same design, gameplay and, above all, high addiction potential. The only difference is in the control, instead of flying up and down, I control the woodcutter by commands to the right or left.
The game also pleased me with its motivational character in that if you try hard and beat a certain score, you will unlock a new lumberjack suit or different new characters.
The whole game is completely free, the only thing that will disturb you while playing is ads. If you want to avoid them in advance, you can buy Timberman Golden Edition in the App Store for less than one euro.
