Tim Cook is currently without a doubt the most famous and most important person at Apple. In addition, the company is the most valuable company in the world with a value of over 2 trillion dollars. If you've ever wondered how much money Apple's CEO makes annually, know that it's definitely not a small change. A reputable portal Wall Street Journal has now shared an annual ranking that compares the annual compensation of CEOs of companies under the S&P 500 index, which includes the 500 largest US companies.

According to the aforementioned ranking, the man standing at the head of Apple earned a cool 14,77 million dollars, i.e. less than 307 million crowns. Undoubtedly, this is a huge amount, hard to imagine for an ordinary mortal. But when we take into account the kind of giant Apple is, the amount is relatively modest. The median of the published amounts is 13,4 million dollars. So Apple's CEO is only slightly above average. And this is exactly the point of interest. Although Apple is at the top of the S&P 500 index thanks to its huge value, Cook is only in 171st position in terms of the highest paid CEOs. We also mustn't forget to mention that Apple's annual shareholder return in 2020 grew by an astronomical 109%, but the current CEO's pay increased "only" by 28%.

Chad Richison from Paycom Software was able to win the title of the highest paid director. He came up with more than 200 million dollars, i.e. about 4,15 billion crowns. From the entire ranking, only 7 people received compensation worth more than 50 million dollars, while in 2019 it was only two and in 2018 it was three people. If we look at it from the other end, only 24 company directors from the S&P 500 index earned less than $5 million. These people include, for example, Elon Musk, who receives no salary, and Jack Dorsey, the director of Twitter, who earned $1,40, i.e. less than 30 crowns.
